MBX7r eco Stock VS Custom Springs

Published 2018-03-11
Suspension testing continues. In these clips I am running springs only, and the suspension geometry is the same. This is not the stock geometry settings.

The first three clips are the stock springs for the MBX7r eco in the stock mounting locations.

At the end I compare the stock spring set-up to the custom springs I am currently using. I have the 8.75T 1.6mm front springs, and 11.25T 1.6mm rear springs.

It is interesting how the stock springs lift the front end considerably compared to my custom spring configuration.

The stock geometry combines "active caster" with a steeper kick-up angle, both of which affect the way the front end responds. The extra kick-up lifts the front of the car even more.

I tested my truggy, the MBX7TR with stock springs and stock geometry, and this tendency of the front to lift when hitting bumps is even more pronounced. Apparently this is the intention of the Mugen designers, but I want my car to run level over bumps, or as level as possible.

One revolution of the dyno wheels is 32", and at this moderate speed, it the suspension has not quite settled after traveling this distance. And with shock oil added, the time required for the suspension to return to ride height will be increased.

Pretty cool. What springs did you use? Pistons and fluids stay the same?
