Madness we're one of the biggest bands in the UK during the 1980s. Loads of hits, try "Baggy Trousers" "House of Fun" "Night boat to Cairo" "One Step Beyond" "Driving in my Car". This one was written by Labbi Sifre and originally recorded by him in the seventies (he also makes a cameo appearance in this video). Much love from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Do not expect deep seriousness from a Madness video. Those lads were having fun and showed it. One vote for "Night Boat to Cairo"!
  • @chrisreed3656
Labbi Siffri was the original singer/writer of this song and had a hit with it in the early 70's. He's also in this video playing the violin, he's the one who takes his sunglasses off at the end

There were very few of us listening to and loving Madness here in the States. So many great songs; 'Embarrassment', 'The Sun and the Rain', 'My Girl', 'Yesterday's Men', 'The Prince', 'Michael Caine', and, of course, 'One Step Beyond'. Here's hoping for more.

If you lived through British music in the 80’s nothing seems weird……..😂😂😂
  • @redjack9999
More Ska please. The Beat, The Selecter, Madness and The Specials all are great choices.
  • @mikec3853
Madness were known as "The Nutty Boys" because they always had a sense of humor and were fun. They were a ska band who went pop. "Middle Of the Night", "Night Boat to Cairo", "Bed And Breakfast Man", "House Of Fun", "Benny Bullfrog", "Tarzan's Nuts", "One Step Beyond"-all fun, all upbeat. A beloved band,

They are still going strong, I see them play live in London most Xmas times 🎶🎶
  • @byllijean3
I LOVE IT! This song was requested personally by my British fiance for our reception playlist for our upcoming wedding because y'all we've doing long distance for 16 YEARS!!!
  • WONDERFUL! Thank You. I was 17/18 when I bought their first, self-titled, album. Right out of high school and in Love with Ska, Reggae, and, Punk. Still am. Madness is one of the original Two-Tone Bands in the UK that kickstarted the second wave of Ska. Along with The Specials, The Selector (GREAT Female voice), The Beat (known in the US as The English Beat), and, The Bodysnatchers. More Two-Tone Ska PLEASE❤ 🤘😎🤘
  • @surlechapeau
Jay & Amber, You'll love their "One Step Beyond"!!! Madness are an English ska band from Camden Town, North London, who formed in 1976
  • @blueeyedraven396
I absolutely love the "weird" bands from the 80's. Madness was one of those great weird bands along with Talking Heads and Oingo Boingo.
  • @iangerrard321
I never fitted in at school in the early 80s and this band meant so much to me. The guy taking his glasses off near the end was the original writer of the song making a cameo appearance.
  • @mistermister1140
This music style is SKA and was huge in early 80s Britain…..”Ska is a genre of music that combines Jamaican and Caribbean rhythms, punk rock energy, and horn sections. Together, these elements create an energetic, highly danceable style of music”
  • Favourite Madness song for me. My wife was lucky enough to see them live 12 years ago with her sister. Such fun.
  • @patdonnelly9392
Oh, thank you guys for this! Madness was one of those bands that incorporated the unique '80's ska-reggae influence into their songs. They were so quirky and fun, you just had to love them. ' One Step Beyond' is a song I'll always play when I need to dance. (happens often. Good thing I live alone!🤨).
  • @nucleariffmaster
Requested this a while back, glad you guys enjoyed it. Hit after hit in the 80's. So many to choose from. Next up Baggy Trousers...please x
  • @michellez1414
Madness is a big, talented group that helped usher in 80s British ska. They're brilliant.
  • @MrJohnnyMel
Labi Siffre wrote this and had a big hit in the 70s, his other chart successes “Crying Laughing Loving Lying” and the anti apartheid song “Something Inside so Strong” brilliant composer and singer you should check out
