JetStarfish's new video "Minecraft's Exploration Problem" is an incredibly flawed advertisement for his mod. His patreon has quadrupled despite the lies throughout his video. In this reaction / response, I aim to show the dishonesty in his most recent video.

4:51 What's Swift Sneak?
17:13 Wait... all of this is an ad?!
23:42 He's wrong about biomes too
30:20 HE'S JUST LYING!
36:52 He's mostly right about transportation

About the whole "uploading the mod for free" thing, turns out somebody else already did it.

Minecraft "critics" when they forget that play styles other than pvp and speedrunning exist:

I think the reason people shit on copper rather than lapis is the fact that majority of copper's uses are only aesthetic, while lapis is used for enchanting, a function incredibly helpful for survival. Copper has more creative use but no survival use. Lapis has more survival use but (almost) no creative use. Ultimately, most of the players complaining about copper are much more survival-focused and aren't interested in the creative uses that copper has to offer, generally.

Minecrafters when you want to build a pretty base instead of speed running the game within an hour:
  • the whole video is just " How to fix exploration, written by someone who doesn't explore"

The solution to JetStarfish's issue with Minecraft: just play Terraria.

complains about the woodland mansion turns the ancient city into the woodland mansion
  • enchanted golden apples are useless because the warden one shots you is such a weird statement as if they arent meant for anything else
  • I love how he argues that diamond pants are a useless drop before proceeding to say the entire city should be arbitrarily locked until you already likely have diamond pants
  • When he said he studied plate tectonics to find where coal would be deposited that’s not even plate tectonics that’s sedimentation rate and oceanography since we’re talking about ocean basins so he wasn’t even right about the topic of geology he apparently “studied”

I'm not gonna lie, I don't care if Mojang adds instant teleportation to travel millions of blocks at once, I WIL be making a minecart network that spans tens of hundreds of thousands of blocks connecting every structure in my world!!!

The reason I stopped watching JetStarfish's video about minecraft exploration is the abundance of cringe jokes he put in the video.

People often forget that Minecraft is NOT an RPG. It's a SANDBOX game with RPG ELEMENTS. The game never tells you what order to do things in, nor does it restrict you from trying! That's why Minecraft is such a popular game to Speedrun!

I think its hilarious that he "gives players a reason to explore every biome" and **COMPLETELY IGNORES THE MUSHROOM ISLAND**. You can't claim to "fix" exploration and ignore a biome that needs arguably the MOST exploration!!
  • I'm so fucking tired of people not understanding the ancient city. There's wool in them for a reason. You're meant to NOT fight the warden. The loot is REALLY valuable if you are actually being stealthy and don't die constantly. The ancient city is way less dangerous than bastions, at least in my experience.
  • One of the main reason to explore Jungles is to find bamboo that is useful for scaffolding and with the new update is a new wood type. Not just wood and food. Oh.. and watermelon for potion of healing and panda, don't forget the pandas.
  • Jet seems to forget that Minecraft is a sandbox game where aesthetics have just as much value as objective use
  • @lasercraft32
Wait I just realized... He complains about Woodland Mansions being hard to find and requiring an explorer map to find... And then he goes and makes Ancient Cities do the same thing???
  • @hexlart8481
The whole ancient city thing kinda sounds like JetStarfish is assuming that you will fight the warden which just, is not how the area is intended to be played? The warden is so powerful even at endgame because it is supposed to be a penalty for failing to sneak. The warden is not a boss you should fight, it is the fail condition of the ancient city. In fact the entire video seems to be made from the myopic viewpoint that armor, weapons, enchants, and food are the only things you will ever want. The periphery systems that enable combat are the only reasons to go anywhere or do anything. No! The game is a sandbox, designed for players to do what they find fun. Building, exploring, fighting, redstone, all are equally valid modes of play and if you look at the game from any view except maximizing your ability to fight and not die, then Jet's entire argument falls apart. I think a more useful viewpoint to see the game's balance from is that of balancing the rewards for all styles of play. Any structure, biome, or location should include at minimum some new blocks to build with, something useful if you want to get stronger, and some kind of exploration aid or unique item for those who just want to explore. It is fine if Jet personally plays like this, but assuming that all systems that don't purely feed into this playstyle are useless, broken, or irrelevant is dumb. Jet can go make mods that facilitate his method of play if he wants, but he should not assume that his view is the default.
