A 17-year-old suspect continues to be questioned by police after a “ferocious” stabbing attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class left three children dead and five other youngsters in a critical condition.

Three other children were also injured and two adults are in a critical condition.

Sir Keir Starmer, the prime minister, is expected to confirm a visit to Southport today as Yvette Cooper, the home secretary, arrives in the area.
