The story of The Radioactive Boyscout is one of intrigue and Danger. In the summer of 1994 David Hahn a young aspiring chemist built a nuclear reactor in his mothers back yard. The incident exposed nearly 40.000 people to dangerous levels of radiation and forever changed the life of the young man.

But there is more to the story and the life of David Hahn and on this episode we take a deep dive into just what made the radioactive boyscout.

  • Seriously this guy was gifted and dillegent,,,,, he should get his just due with a motion picture..... somtething that spotlights his solitary brilliance......and not the threat he posed to his neighbprhood.....or his neighbors for that matter....that book encouraged him to be bold.....he is the man!

    I could have sworn there was an interview out there where David explained himself and what happened after this, but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe I dreamed it.

    Ah, the good old days when your grandpa gave you a recipe to make chlorine gas and told you to just do it next to the window and don't breathe. I feel like a trained chemist like him would've known how dangerous some of the things in that book were. I would've expected him to at least do these dangerous experiments under his supervision. Which is still dangerous. but it's a thing I could see a grandpa doing.
  • This is what happens when you are ignored but have a genius IQ. Curiosity becomes an escape. It had a sad ending.
  • I live fairly near to his house and have been in that area many times. I hope he didn't poison us.
  • I had hoped that his story had a happy ending with him becoming a scientist, but no... Poor guy had a rough start and a rough end.
