  • I’m a mechanic and I finds theses video so educational. I send them to my kids. Good job Scotty.
  • @yime6631
I've met people who are so good at their crafts and careers. Those who can teach this well what they know as well as Scotty are more rare. He's more than just an excellent mechanic.
  • Your production values are off the chain, dude! This should be on PBS, right before a Ken Burns documentary. Very impressive - you not only demonstrate the WHAT but describe the WHY.
  • @HighestIQ
After seeing several Scotty thumbnails I have come to the conclusion he likes to point a lot.
  • if I had known the things you share in this video, my car had not died. I pray MANY cars' head gaskets are saved by those who watch this video putting into practice all this wisdom. and thank you, Mr. Kilmer

This reminds me of the nearly 20 year old Honda Civic my dad had most of my life. It had cooling problems that he couldn't diagnose so he had to have containers of water in his car when it got too hot and this dude gave him a coolant cap from Mexico that was basically a cheap cap with a hole in it. It was more common for people in Mexico to fill the radiator with water since the cheaper cars in mostly rough terrain driven by mostly poorer people wouldn't last anyway. The cap was designed to prevent internal water damage by letting the pressure release from the hole.
  • I’m such a big fan of yours Scotty! I thought I knew about cars, having grown up around them, but your videos have taught me infinitely more that I’d ever learn while watching my mechanic! I try to watch ever video you post. Keep up the great work Scotty! We love you! 💗
  • We will always love and remember you Scotty! May your legacy of teaching others about the importance of maintaining their cars continue on for many years to come. ❤️
  • my father used to put plain old tap water in the radiator. had to scrap the car after the cylinders warped because the radiator was rusted and the temps kept getting too high (even blew the head gasket a couple of times)
  • All failed engines that I’ve experienced are from faulty cooling system. Leaking radiator or water pump, and I didn’t fix them in time. 😵
  • Whenever Scotty does these narrations, he sounds just like Joe Pesci doing his voice overs in Casino.
  • @mry82
I remember bringing the ol' Le Mans over a mountain pass here in the Appalachians back in 90s and it started overheating (it was summer)... cranked up the heat, rolled down the windows, and made it to the other side with no real issues... good times!
  • Love the Camry TRD pulling a j-turn just to pull in the driveway
  • Good afternoon Scotty thank you for the good news and auto education! YOU are the coolest! Even a lizard stepped on my porch to listen to you!
  • @bbutc
I once had a car with a malfunctioning cooling system. The only way to keep the coolant temperature down and out of the red on the dial, was to turn the cabin heat up to MAX. This was OK in winter, but in the middle of summer - not so much.
  • My wife's car overheated a month ago. I noticed the day after i put a new alternator. To make the story short I had forgot to put the connector back into the radiator😅
  • I once owned a 98 Camry , the shop who changed timing belt and water pump forgot to refill the coolant after the work done. I drove it the next day to work 45 miles one way, the car overheated on the return trip when it stuck in traffic. I just turned on the fan and continue to home, the needle stayed in the middle all the way to home. What a car!
