ok y'all... i now understand the stress that goes behind buying concert tickets on TM because why was getting IU tickets the most terrifying experience ever?? s/o to my brothers – we pulled the trigger and copped ourselves some floor tickets bc when will we ever get to see IU world tour again!!

here's the free budgeting sheet: bit.ly/chloes-budgeting-sheet

NOTE: the 50/30/20 rule is a personal finance guideline for budgeting that balances your needs, lifestyle choices, and long-term financial security. It gained popularity through Elizabeth Warren and Amelia Warren Tyagi's book, "All Your Worth". It's just a framework to start with and you really can choose your own ratios!

love,
chlo

I'm with Kevin here. Sometimes, when I have more stressful weeks or months, I'm somehow more prone to spent way more money and I cannot control it. This is one of the ways to handle stress and being overwhelmed - overspend or overeat. Good, that you have Kevin to spot it and addressed it. Try a challenge - 3 months spending only 500-1000$ per month. This should make you calmer and more sound with money. All of it is not about you, but about the chapter in your life, which is very hectic. Wish you all the best! :)

you have a gift for educating with entertainment / content . it's like i watched a vlog but learned at the same time, gold standard chloe !!!
  • @valentineqin2608
super appreciate the honesty here about the conflict between you and kevin that's so precious! honestly money lesson is for a lifetime so as long as we're learning and growing it's all good :D also, kevin sounds like such a good partner and balance you out!! (also need kevins gamer speed to snatch ticket 100% lol pleaseeee)
  • I think it's important to have consistent conversation with your spouse about these things. $9K may not be a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it's more about enabling your brother and other family. You can either have money now or have money later.

sorry, but i'm team kevin on this one. if treating your brothers is any indication of how you're going to raise your future children, they're going to be so spoiled!!
  • @mydogisbailey
I used to work as a manager in tech in SF and I never could never even come close to allowing myself to spend $1000 on anything like concert tickets haha. And I personally think it is important for your brothers to see you as an equal, not as a motherly figure to go to for frivolous desires. If you said yes to buying them tickets, it doesn’t really leave you a lot of wiggle room to say no to them in the future. And ironically they could become resentful when you try to say no

I personally wouldn't take that much money from my siblings knowing she's getting laid off, especially just for entertainment. I also won't give that much money to my siblings if I'm currently laid off and not knowing when do I get the job especially in this job market ( maybe for emergency things but not for concert tickets just for fun). My husband was getting laid off since August last year and still not getting a job. This job market is tough. You're lucky because you still have income from YouTube and don't have children yet.

I love how real this video is. Chloe I used to be like you, splurging on “once in a lifetime” experiences when I was in a financial position to do so. But truthfully, it’s a slippery slope. Very easy to justify any indulgent treats as a unique experiences and it took me a long time to realize that. When I combined finances with my husband, that’s when I had the wake up call and it’s difficult to go back and live more frugally to invest for our financial future.
  • @janiex7031
love this video!!! Especially the side of spending for your siblings and shared finances with your partner — awesome discussions, would love more of these. Thank you for putting this out.
  • @brooke8888
Why are you buying your brothers’ girlfriends’ tickets?! That’s insane. They all better pay you back. Just cover 20% if you want to be nice to them not the whole thing. That’s bad money management skills for them as well.
  • @StevenLamPhoto
I think you are doing great at 30 with what you earned! I watch because it is entertaining and what got me hooked is your editing and how much work you put into it, no wonder why you have a huge sub base~
  • @gastronomee_

  • @BreannaQuan
i love how honest you and kevin were about the spoiling of your brothers and i have a similar sentiment as you chloe😅 my siblings and i were also raised with an huge scarcity mindset so, now i just want to spoil them all the time. i think reigning in splurging on others is something i need to work on as well so im excited to keep watching your journey 🤍
  • @happyness37
