Ok something to consider... "Citric Acid Complex" could mean that they don't actually have the exact same amount of citric acid. And the percentages could be equivalent because it's evened out by whatever else they include as part of this "complex." Hm... We'll never know for sure, but even so... I stand my ground on loving these affordable alternatives!
-
Something to consider - A shampoo is to clean your hair, a conditioner is to condition it, a repair treatment is to repair it. If you are strapped for cash use a cheap shampoo and conditioner that works for your hair and a repair treatment. Shampoo is on and off your head so quick it's unlikely to do much repair.
-
Thatās actually a very genius move by a brand. Why let someone else dupe your own high end product? lol love that for them
-
AHHH SO MUCH APPRECIATION that you included a European line! <3 <3 feeling so included, it's so frustrating when you sometimes rave about products that are only available in the US and I can't get my hands on them haha
-
For Canadians: the LāOrĆ©al Elvive is simply called āBond Repairā. The packaging and ingredients are the same as the āEuropean Elviveā line, same size/colors/labelling , just without the Elvive on the packaging. Itās available at Walmart, Shoppers and London Drugs etc.

iām a broke college student dyeing my hair at home and i noticed that it was getting kinda damaged, so i started using the lāorĆ©al ever pure bond strengthener line because it was the absolute cheapest ābond repairā products i saw - Iāve never used the more expensive stuff but Iām pretty happy with the results. Iām happy thereās an affordable product for bond repair, everyone used to tell me to use olaplex I was like ālol i donāt have the money!ā anyways iām glad this video confirmed that i donāt need to spend so much more to get good results!

Gosh, I just love you and your channel! Thank you for all of the work you do to bring us the real truth. I started using the Redken conditioner because of your recommendation. LOVE it! I haven't tried the shampoo because I had been using Redken's Biotin shampoo (which I also love ) and still have lots left. I buy the biggest bottle with the pump to save $. When that is finally gone I will try the AB shampoo for sure. I tried The L'Oreal EP shampoo & conditioner and really didn't care for it much. I haven't tried any of the pre-shampoos but if they are dupes I may just grab an EP at the drugstore to try. It's taken me several years to find a group of products that work consistently for me. I think I'm almost there! Got to add I also use Living Proof Triple Bond weekly and Living Proof PHD on other days. Keep up the good work!

For once something is cheaper and more available in Europe! The elvive range is about 8$ a pop here, going to get them now! Thanks šššš¼šš¼šš

The new Ever pure lines have really been excelling lately. Iāve been using the glossing conditioner and i canāt imagine using a different one at least for a while
-
I've been using the L'Oreal EverPure Bond Strengthening Shampoo & Condtioner for a couple of months now and I love them! I will be picking up the treatment soon as well, especially knowing that it is basically identical to the Redken one!
-
This is the comparison video I need! I'm half way through my Redken ABC range and I love it. But, I love money even more - the fact that the treatment is pretty much identical to the Ever Pure is wild. The price difference is massive. I'll be sticking with the shampoo and conditioner, but definitely reaching for the Ever Pure when my current redken treatment runs out. Thanks Abbey!

I'm glad you did this video! šI was just eyeing the Elvive bond repair the other day and thinking if it was some sort of dupe š... L'Oreal did a similar thing with KĆ©rastase Extentioniste-line, where they created similar dupes for both Redken (extreme length) and Elvital/Elvive (Full Resist). I also find the whole citric acid hype a bit funny. Like, Garnier Fructis was on it waaay back! š Looking at the surfactants used š¤out of the three shampoos, L'Oreal Elvive should be the most clarifying one. Sodium c14-16 olefin sulfonate is what makes it easily foam up and is used in many "sulfate-free" clarifying shampoos. As well as having cocamide betaine, which is another more clarifying surfactant. So I'm a bit surprised that you say that it didn't feel deep cleansing, especially when it had the lighter texture of them all. But know that both of those are able to break down silicones.
-
Citric acid removes buildup and is commonly used in clarifying shampoos, but there is no supporting evidence that it strengthens the hair, but it does help smooth the cuticle and adjust the pH levels in the hair.
-
Hi Abbey, oh my goodness, that LāOrĆ©al line is incredible ā¤ like Iām obsessed with it all! Iām a huge spender on hair care overall & was crazy surprised how AMAZING & soft Ever pure left my hair!!!! š THANK YOU, for saving me money!
-
Duping themselves I hear is very common for LāOrĆ©al as then they benefit all around, rather than leaving that market up to another brand. Great work thank you for the review :)
-
Thank you for this review from Europe ā¤ļøš„° was waiting for an extensive comparison between Redken and Elvive and nobody does it like you!
-
I love that you did this comparison, it was very interesting. I've wanted to try the redken line I just haven't gotten to it yet but good thing because this has been very helpful and I'll now do some mixing. Redken shampoo with the everpure conditioner and treatment. š
-
I feel like LāOrĆ©al dupes themselves with makeup too. A year or two after they release a great LancĆ“me product, a drugstore LāOrĆ©al version comes out.
-
Thank you so much for this much anticipated vid, Abbey! ā¤ļø I was one of those asking for a deep dive into the ingredients of these products! š Thanx to you I tried the Redken products & it was love at first wash! I also bought the Elvive products but havenāt tried them yet. š But Iām looking forward to doing it in the near future! āŗļø Lots of love & hugs from Denmark! ā¤ļøš
