Really lovely to hear you say that about the client not needing to make eye contact. The first counsellor I saw when I started seeing one as part of my requirement for my degree interrupted me in the middle of me telling him something I'd never talked to anyone about before to tell me that I wasn't making eye contact with him while speaking and that he couldn't see how I'd be able to be a counsellor if I couldn't make eye contact, that it meant that he couldn't feel connected to me. It felt like being punched. I went back one more time but I couldn't confront him on it and I felt so anxious about seeing him after that so I never went back.

If your perceiving them that is a kind of judgement. Just be there for them with love
