4 Locomotive Mixed Freight Train Drops The Signal On Norfolk Southern main line railroad line between Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio. The train includes 2 DPU locomotives in the middle of the train. Next train has 3 locomotives pulling a fast train over the same railroad crossing in the city but going the other direction. These trains are in Miamisburg, Ohio. CSX has a line on the other side of the river in Miamisburg. The first train in this video is headed to Cincinnati. Shortly after that train passed me it broke down just a few miles south of me near Middletown, Ohio. They had to bring in 3 DPUs to get that train moving and it took so long that the train only went a short distance before they had to stop to change crews underneath of I-75. I will have the video of the train with all 7 locomotives soon as it passes through Middletown, Ohio. By now I hope that everyone knows what is meant by "Knocking Down The Signal". It just means that the train causes the signal to go from green down to red. I love railroad jargon. If you know some railroad jargon that I haven't used in a video, please comment below and I will add it. I added "Highballing" and "Top And Tail". The second train in this video was headed north ( railroad east ) to Dayton, Ohio and beyond. Mixed freights like both of the trains in this video are my favourite since they have all types of freight cars. Boxcars are my favourite but I also like the long cut of coal hoppers on the second train. Some of the old rusty freight cars in this video would make great models on a model railroad layout. That's why I pan some of the more interesting cars, so that you can get a good view to copy them if you want to model them. What is your favourite freight car? Please comment below. Best radio frequencies for Miamisburg are 160.980 for NS and 160.230 for CSX. 452.9375 is EOT and 457.9375 is front train device. I am told that the first train is 227 and the second train is 173. Filmed on a cold Ohio day on February 12, 2022.

Thanks for watching! If you have time, please watch another video of mine to help keep my channel going. Every view helps support my channel. Viewing time helps pay for gas, motels, rental cars etc. I have a list of places that I plan on filming so watch another video of mine if you have the time.

220 cars on the first train. Love seeing the fallen flags cars. I noticed The Rock and Boston & Maine. I spent 17 years on the Rock Island until it ceased operations in 1980. Love your videos.

The railroads are asking for trouble with those 2 mile long trains. We had a saying when I was an Engineer. "Uphill slow, downhill fast, tonnage first, safety last" Nice videos JT.

This episode was particularly meaningful to me as I worked in Miamisburg at the Mound Facility in the 1980s & 1990s. You were at 3rd Street and Mound Road. In the background I could see the NAPA repair shop where we employees could drop off our cars while at work. So many memories came back. I now live in VA. Thanks for the memories

Thank you for documenting these two trains in Miamisburg, Ohio. I noticed that there was a former blue Rock Island covered hopper car that appeared at 7:55. It curently has MWCX reporting marks. I have a feeling that this car may have also carried CNW reporting marks. The Chicago & North Western Railroad puchased a lot of these blue painted "Route Rock" covered hopper cars after the Rock Island went into bankruptcy in early 1980. The Union Pacific inherited the former Rock Island cars when the Union Pacific merged with the CNW in 1995. The Union Pacific has sold off these old hopper cars. That first train was a long one. It certainly needed the four engines that provided the power to move it. I see that Bill Morris took your challenge to count the cars in that first train and came up with a number of 218 +/- cars.

The way the first train was slowing down sounds like it was already in breakdown mode

  • @guildpilotone
Woo Hoo! Double DPU! Looks like that train will split in two.

The train lengths and their car varietes clearly indicate the prosperity of the region. It has changed a lot since several decades ago when I was considering working there. That was a good one, JT! Thank you!

Real Train Action on a Real Train Channel. 👍 The Action on this Channel is ALL Killer and NO Filler. 😬 Thanks Brian! 👍
  • Awesome video! I just love hearing Norfolk Southern's horn as it approaches the crossing. Gives me goosebumps watching the train approach. It says stay behind those gates 'cause I'm a'comin. And that train was really moving. Have a nice day 😊🌈
