It's time. I'm ready to share what's next for That Fit Friend and the direction I plan to take the brand. A shoe store is coming, y'all!

For a long time, the goal has to always been build a store and eventually a shoe, the order in which I tackle these was up in the air until recently, though. Thanks for a turn of events with my business, it's kind of thrust me into a both troublesome but opportunistic position.

In this video, I share about my video shoot with Ahrefs and discuss my plan with the store. There is A LOT that I'll be fleshing out on the channel.

0:00 Where I Am
0:35 Breakfast & What's Happened
2:44 Stroll and Gratitude
5:05 Work Session Explainer
9:44 Best Flavor of Chobani?
10:43 Shooting At Reach Athletics
11:12 Thank You, Ahrefs!
11:29 Post Shoot Thoughts
12:07 The Next PROJECT
17:15 Thanks, Y'all!

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought my career would get me to this point, but here we are.

I've always been enthralled with both exercise and the design elements that go into shoes and apparel. I also love teaching clients and interacting with the community — so this seems like the perfect next move.

Is it going to be a lofty goal and drain all of my savings? Yes, but you know what? If it's scaring you, then that usually means you're onto something good.

If you're new or an OG, thank you for being here! Follow along as I share more about what it takes to open up a shoe store! Change is coming.

Jake your channel is extremely useful and by far the best shoe review channel on YouTube. The consistency and the systematic approach in which you review shoes covers the important things people want to hear before purchasing shoes and your expertise is above any other channel. I’ve learned a lot just by watching your videos. You definitely deserve more notoriety!

Love the idea of the store. It has been so hard to find barefoot shoes specifically. Hate not being able to try on shoes beforehand, I almost solely rely on reviews like yours to guide my shoe purchases. A gym/ store combo takes it up another level, and I love it. Wish you the best!

Jake, gotta say, That Fit Friend is my always go to channel and brand for fitness advice, and I think there are others who are loyal too. Don’t get discouraged if you’re not as big as people making shady deals to say great things about iffy shoes. Keep up what you’ve been doing. Think back when you started That Fit Friend, I think that Jake would have been amazed with how far That Fit Friend already has come. You’re doing great Jake!
  • Hey, Jake! I used to live in Concord, so small world... Unfortunately, I don't get to TX much but I love the idea of your store. I have a wide foot and range in shoe sizes from 10 all the way to 11.5 depending on the company and model, so a one stop shop for barefoot shoes, lifters, etc. sounds amazing. I wish you luck!

Wish you nothing but the best, my friend! Love the whole concept and seems like a natural evolution/addition to what you're doing now. Definitely gives me a reason to revisit Austin for the ribbon cutting down the road. 😉 #fortheloveofshoes, #tff

I prefer reading to listening--it's faster for me. Saying this in appreciation for your written reviews.

this is huge!!. I'm stoked about it and can't wait for the new updates. proud of you. Chills with all the comments here!

Hey, wow amazing accomplishment that will be very good for you and keep doing what you love!

Great idea on the store! Most big box stores only carry the larger producers (nike, adidas, UA, etc.) With so many smaller startup shoe brands it's harder to compare sizing. Never been to Austin but if I end up there I'll be making a stop at the store. Keep up the great work Jake!

Long time listener, first time commenter. Love your content man! Really sorry to hear about your SEO with the Google update 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’m a website designer and manager SEO for clients and it was pretty horrible to see for so many. Love the thoughts on a physical store! Very cool!
  • @dwighthouser
This style of video is dope, you should do more! I can’t wait to visit the store 💪
  • Best of luck Jake!!! Loving the idea; of course is challenging but keep the hard work to succed 😎
  • Love the idea of opening up a store and the concept behind it. I often find that I end up just settling for a shoe that I'm not entirely happy with, simply because the entire process of researching, buying/returning is a hassle. It would be great to have a chance to try on a shoe in store and run it through some tests before making a purchase. Best of luck, Jake!

Great idea, man! Love the idea of connecting with people in-person and building a community. Appreciate your work, I don’t buy a pair of training/barefoot shoes without watching or reading your reviews first.
  • @AlvaTheSpurned
The only reason why I haven’t watched many of your recent shoe reviews is cuz you helped me pick so well on my first buy. I looked at a lot of your helpful content which helped me get my first pair of barefoot shoes. As you said, that fit friend punches above his weight class

Love the idea and vision. Definitely a gap in the market and ultimately creating a better experience for customers. You have my vote of confidence!

The SEO stuff is super interesting. I know when I was hired as a contractor at some bigger media companies to work on their websites they'd have whole teams of people their just to game SEO. I think google got hit with an anti-trust suit recently for being a monopoly. I know it's bad but I feel like I visit fewer and fewer websites directly anymore. I follow them of socials and read stuff here and there . Or like your content I primarily get it via youtube. I have been going to the site because I know you go more in-depth there. On the idea of the store is sick. I recently found a smaller running shoe store near me which was one of the better experience I have had buying shoes. I love the idea of that but for more wight training style of shoes. All the data stuff and fit finding would be cool especially if it works for the online side of things.
  • @serenammueller
This sounds so cool! It'd be cool if you offered a service for foot measurement and you could book a custom fitting appointment that gets you credit to buying a shoe in your store!
