As someone with OCD, it’s crippling. I’m not as happy as I used to be. It feels like my OCD has taken control of part of my life. It’s taken away the things that I enjoy in life. If you’re struggling with OCD, never be afraid to ask for help.

This guy gives me hope. Thanks for speaking about it. Been dealing with it for 30 years without knowing what it was till recently.

Thank so much for this story. I’ve had this for 54 years. With help, I’m much better but something you have to work at. Thank you, Howie!

I have horrible OCD. I have thoughts of if I don’t do something a certain way that someone I care about will die, so I’ll spend an unknown amount of time doing something over and over until I get it right, and trying to ignore the thoughts is super hard and scary. I’m thankful that someone understands and says “it’s way more than what people think it is”, bc it’s true. I’m trying to get treatment now, but man it’s day in and day out, and I can’t find the thing to say to myself that can make it easier

It’s also very important to make a distinction between mental health and mental health conditions/mental disorder. Everyone can talk about improving their mental health, but not everyone has a mental health condition/mental disorder such as OCD, ADHD, and schizophrenia.

I have OCD but it’s not always about the checking or washing hands. And the action might change over time. But the single line of thread are these constant thoughts to an obsessive degree that can be very debilitating physically as well e.g. insomnia

What he said at the end is so true, we need to change how we react and that stigma.
