I am so glad the end of this interview exists. You could hear in his words and sentiment how terrible doping is for all associated with sports. We really need to put pressure where ever we can to remove doping and the mentality of doping to get ahead out of the sport. Their are no short cuts to achievement. This is also a larger global problem in that with out more opportunities for all of us to participate in sport, whether here in the PNW where we can’t get a new kind of 3 year college system built to focus on hand skills, lower the cost of college and spread access to events like cross country running. The kind of running our kids do out here while working on the vast 100 acre farm, does not translate to NCAA systems. If you don’t go the NCAA route, how do you make it if your development needs a different direction? This is where the vultures that peddle doping catch the youth on the outside and sell them false dreams with doping. From Kenya where every kid grows up with running dreams and seeks a short cut to glory, to the country and inner cities of the rest of the world, those of us in sport doing it clean work too hard, and give too much of our lives to just let a few misdirected mischievous minds destroy the core of our sport with a sense of doubt as to our achievements. That’s just not acceptable. Edit: a week later… i was and am a middle distance runner. My issue with doping comes from a lived experience in my profession of farming. Specifically I raise cattle and horses in the PNW. Doping in livestock breeding is just like in Athletics. The cultures are the same. They attract a type of human mentality that is best left outside of the mainstream if we don’t want to go back to the days of no regulation and some horrible experiments on youth who have no idea the complexity and dangers they are falling into. The dishonesty, the lack of dignity, never truly being able to share your successes with those closest to you because you got involved with people whose character is in poor form. We in Athletics are proud of saying we have the smartest kids academically in our sport. We don’t have to drag them to study hall. They often come from families that have given everything to support and be their for one of their own. The human impact of doping in athletics, as I have seen in cattle and horse breeding is what I am uncomfortable with. I fail to grasp why any one in this sport who loves the culture and has found sanctuary or a livelihood in this sport should want nothing to do with doping culture. It’s people our not for us.
  • Arrogant interviewer. I wonder how he got access to Kipruto. Where was Kipruto's manager?
