I Just Bought 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness, and I'm Loving it.
  • I bought one last October of 2023. Great car, 👍my Subaru crosstrek is a 2024 model.

Toyota might be the most reliable vehicle brand, no argue on that. The problem that I have with Toyota is the arrogance of their cars dealers. They wait for you to come in thinking that you are buying a vehicle brand that exceeds all buyers expectations and lay back asking for ridiculous market up prices. Also for their latest models their car seats comfort is not good. There are other brands that are also reliable and you might be able to go to the dealer and get a fair deal. For me Toyota will be the last vehicle that I will buy. I am now only buying Subarus and Mazda. So far not a single issue why my choices.

Mazda is an undervalued and underrated brand. They feature a regular transmission ( as opposed to a CVT) six speeds!

I recently bought a 2024 Camry but went with the XSE V6. I don't put a ton of miles on my cars so while fuel economy was a consideration but performance and mechanical simplicity / reliability were higher on my wish list. The Camry Hybrid also uses a CVT transmission which I would rather avoid. I did test drive a 2024 Mazda 3 hatchback with the manual transmission. I liked it, but I am 6 foot 4 and being a larger car the Camry was more comfortable for me. The same goes for the 2024 Honda Civic. I drove a hatchback with the turbo and a manual transmission. It would have been kind of tight for me but okay if the seats weren't so aggressively bolstered. I didn't want anything to do with Kia, Hyundai, or Chrysler and the Accord now only comes with a 4-cylinder so at the end of the day the Camry was the only sedan that checked all of my boxes. I have never owned or even driven a car that can do 0-60 in under 9 seconds so the 300 horsepower in the Camry was kind of a bucket list thing even though I don't drive fast or aggressively.
  • Hey, a little advice for all AI-generated youtube video "creators": how about doing a little proofreading & checking BEFORE accepting an AI script??! This particular one had a couple large blocks of narration (in the Mazda3 section) that were repeated almost verbatim!
  • New cars have become way too expensive. I’m sticking with my 2005 Mazda 3 until I can find a reasonably priced replacement. $35k now gets you basically nothing, especially if you want a few added extras.

    3.4L TT V-6 Toyota engine, just recalled 💯K +units 😮

Ford is recalling 242,000 mavericks from year model 2022-2024.
  • Crosstrek indeed rides well - still not great power with the Sport's 2.5L but I blame that on Subie continuing to offer CVTs with no other choices. Comfortable and quiet vehicle that goes anywhere and can handle moderate offroad conditions and crappy weather.

Just traded in my 2013 Crosstrek Premium with 175,000 miles for a Corolla Cross Hybrid. The Crosstrek head gaskets needed replacing ($ ouch) , CVT issues, 22 miles per gallon, and it was an oil burner (1 qt / 1,500 miles). There were lots of other expensive issues but it did look good. The CCH (new) is not quite the dirt road vehicle as the Crosstrek, but it is much faster, gets 42 MPG, quieter, smoother, and feels more sophisticated.

The Subaru crosstrek has a CVT transmission. Those are only expected to last 150k miles. But I guess Subaru doesn’t care how upset the customer is once they’ve reached 150k
  • I take issue with the statement that Consumer Reports truly reflect automobile excellence. Anything Subaru always get very positive reviews. Also, Audis always got very positive reviews, which reality isn’t always supported by owners. I have driven Acuras since 1989, and have always liked these vehicles for total reliability, but Acura was always panned by CR. User websites have always been very supportive of Acura products, and disagree with CRs heavy panning of their products.

The 2.0L Crosstrek is more than enough for commuters and highway worriers! I have owned one for a year now and love it. Handles amazing in Canadian winter.

My 2010 Mazda 5 was highly rated by consumer reports (90+ score) when I bought it new in October 2010. I had it until February 2024 when I bought a new car and gave it to a family member. Everything they said about it turned out to be pretty much accurate. I put 70,000 miles on it and my only problems were with the rear shocks which wore out quickly and the AC compressor failed. It was a perfectly adequate car and was good value for money, but after 14 years I wanted something that had modern safety features, more comfort, and more power. Fortunately it's new owner is a family member who lives 2 miles from me and I can always borrow it if I need to go to the hardware store to pick up some long pieces of lumber or a new lawn mower.
