This is a clip from a concert shown on German TV in 1998.
Even after all he has gone through, Peter Green still has magic in his fingers.
The piece was written by Peter and first recorded while with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the sixties. The original recording of this groundbreaking instrumental can be found on the album "A Hard Road".
If you're new to Peter Green, and you like what you hear on this track, I suggest you listen to all of his work with the band Fleetwood Mac, which he founded in 1967 and stayed with until 1970. During this period they played some of the best British blues and blues rock ever recorded.
But Peter Green is not only a unique guitarist and an accomplished songwriter (with songs such as "Black Magic Woman" to his credit), in those days he was also an outstanding vocalist - just listen to tracks like "Stop Messin' Round" or, in an entirely different vein, "Man Of The World".

That he's not sitting alone in a home filled to the brim with anti-psychotics is enough for me. His playing here, while restrained compared to the Peter of old, is still haunting and soulful. The man's contribution to British Blues and the guitar are enormous. His story is moving, cautionary but ultimately inspirational. Love you Peter!!!!

Schizophrenia is an awful burden to carry and I speak from experience, I've been on anti psychotic meds since I was 22 years old and I'm now 56. Isolation is a reality but I'm glad Peter found his skill again and knew that people still loved him and cared that he was all right. As a musician he was peerless, and as a human being he was blessed. God rest him in Heaven.

  • @Celon.
A lot of people talk shit here and I can bet that they can't play fucking "smoke on the water" . This man went through hell and back .Far away from his prime times but his guitar playing it's still beautiful . Takes courage and whole a lot of it to take the guitar again and to play whilst carrying all that shit decades ago .We should be thankful that he's alive , recovering and playing from time to time.

B.B, King's favorite guitarist. BB King said "He has the sweetest tone I have ever heard. He was the only one who gave me the cold sweats"

Rest in Peace Peter Green who on July 25, 2020 has crossed over to the realm of the Supernatural where he will be welcomed by GOD for the beautiful music and guitar playing he has given us.

I still remember the time I first heard this song. Seventeen years old, 1967 late at night, lying in my bed with the lights out having a final cigarette with the radio tuned into KPCC FM Pasadena, which was one of the original underground stations in Los Angeles. A seminal moment and I became a Peter Green devotee right then and there. Saw him 3 times with the Mac.........

  • Such a shame he had to go through such an ordeal. He really is a true guitar gem, he's one of the forgotten heroes and personally one of my favorites.

i was lucky enough to see the Great Man live at a small venue many years ago.......awesome evening...fantastic present from my loverly wife.
  • It's enough that Peter was able to finally able to find the personal courage to start to play again after drugs almost destroyed his mind. Those who truly love the Peter that WAS feel thankful for the Peter that still IS regardless of how much of his musical brilliance still remains to shine through the haze. The audience here are supporting the man out of love and respect.
  • Now that's a good name for a band. Peter Green is a legend . I want that strat
