Nayib Bukele, now the twice elected president of El Salvador, shared this video on 21st February, showing his reply to a question asked by a BBC reporter. Bukele’s New Ideas party won a “supermajority” on Monday, romping home in 54 of the 60 congressional seats. Salvadorian laws allow the leader accorded with a supermajority to have an apparent free reign in governance. Upon his election in 2019, Nayib Bukele, who is of Palestinian heritage, emerged as the youngest president in Latin America. Known for his love of grand events, he has managed to draw global celebrities, including organising the Miss Universe pageant and bringing football legend Lionel Messi for a friendly game. Bukele gained international attention in 2022 for his stringent crackdown on the gangs that have plagued El Salvador for years.

The UK has imprisoned Julian Assange in their maximum security prison on no charges and the reporter is lecturing a President of another country on their justice system. The irony.
  • @TJSaw
Brits and Americans are the last people to lecture the world on anything.
  • @shnarfy
Finally a leader thats not a narcissistic sociopath.

My wife is Salvadoran. In fact, she's visiting her family there as I type this. Over the last few days, she's sent me pictures of the capitol of her home country. It's clean. It's beautiful. Most importantly, she and my daughter feel safe. I visited there 10 years ago. It was a much different place then. THANK YOU President Bukele for the positive change.

I applaud the man. El Salvador was a mess and he cleaned it up. No BS. He put his countrymen first. That’s a solid leader. Period.

My little brother was killed by the gangs in El Salvador, thank you President Bukeke for bringing justice to our people.

In California, we can only pray for someone with Mr. Bukele's leadership & conviction.
  • This is what a leader looks like. When this man took office, the first thing he did was pray for God’s wisdom and leadership. When he started the war on crime, he prayed for no civilian casualties, God acknowledged it, and, gave him a speedy victory. When you humble yourself before God, acknowledge Him and seek Him like this President did, you get the results he did. I am proud of him. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

These countries thrive off smaller, developing countries who are in chaos. El Salvador went from murder capital to a growing vacation/tourist destination which means a growing economy. THAT’S the real reason they’re mad.

Bukele talks sense. In Canada, we’re so used to not believing a word out of our ridiculous PM’s mouth, that Bukele is a breath of fresh air.

this is the most polite and eloquent way to answer a dumb question
  • @bitas.959
Every country in the world needs a leader like this man.
  • @kevindecot186
Is the press capable of praising a leader who makes his society safer, wealthier and happier?
  • @alroc2
HE MADE EL SALVADOR GREAT AGAIN
  • @htorres236
From U.S.A I tell you we need a leader with his courage and faith.

I am European but listening to this guy makes me love him. El Salvador did right by electing this man.
  • IF the US and UK criticize you, then you're probably on the right track. El Salvadorians, please continue progressing and becoming a great country. Love, India.

Here is a man who puts the safety and well being of his people before the “ rights” of the gangs, criminals and murderers. Nayib Bukele is a hero, and he is right - the west is so hypocritical. They could learn a thing or two from him on how to run a country. I hope this President stays in power for a very long time.
  • The UK needs to mind their own business. This President is succeeding in saving the lives of his innocent people from the gangs and violence. Let him lead his country.
