In this SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED, I teach class how the world record holder for Super Mario Odyssey Any%, Tyron18, blazes through the game in under an hour (under 57 minutes to be exact!). This speedrun contains insanely tight movement, including things like clapfires, roll cancels, spinpounds, triple throws, rainbow spins, cap stalls, power vaults, and more! The run ALSO contains clips to go out-of-bounds, skips for 2D sections, and other crazy exploits and shenanigans.

Absolutely shattered to learn tomatoanus is actually a guy and not a shiba in a beanie

Wake up boys and girls - time for another hour long video for our mental well-being!
  • @lumporgini
I used to watch a bunch of runs of Odyssey and had no clue wtf was going on. Hearing the explanations was a big "oooh" moment of how the movement works

Super Mario speedruns are always flipping crazy. The amount of technical knowledge and movement is impressive. I've tried to speedrun SM64 and it feels like that simpsons episode when Homer tries to build a grill.
  • @ashandgold
Performing the hydration skip during the intro segment might have lead to an even better PB, but the timesave on the Cap Throws segment was impressive and secured the PB regardless, even with the missed existential crisis skip later in the run. Incredible work, looking forward to seeing more runs in the SMO Definition Intro% category.

I love this game, thanks for covering the any% speedrun of Super Mario Ossyedy

Been a fan for a while now. Every time I’d get to the motivational words section of the runs I’d always have the thought “I’m glad he does this. Somebody probably needed this today”. Today I needed it. Welled up for the first time during this one’s segment. Thank you Mr. Anus. Ima keep goin.

I really enjoy the on camera bits, its like a friendly speedrunning cryptid comes out and explains stuff to us
  • @lvl69obama
Amazing how every time this man innovates it’s a fucking fantastic idea that’s executed perfectly.
  • @gergelyhorvath5791
MAN! This green screen stuff was amazing! It was entertaining! You have the perfect balance between the normal and the green screen clips. Loved it!
  • @JaneDoe-iz7wc
Hey, tomatoanus, thank you for making all those videos. Brings me joy every time :)
  • @knotten33
Yep, I think you can be confident in this new format. You have good screen presence and it's very clear that you have a good idea of what makes your content entertaining and interesting so the green screen bits and editing don't feel out of place to me.

I watched a lot of speedruns when this game first released, and it's crazy to see how far it's come
  • @Melkimund
This is next level dude. Love seeing your face and the editing in this is peak. You are quickly becoming one of the biggest faces in whatever this speedruning scene is. And the way you deliver these genius level jokes in the "gotta move on" manner is hilarious!
  • @speakwithanimals
51:20 I really appreciate that you do this every time. It may seem unnecessary or cringe to some people to say stuff like this, but it's really nice to have that little reminder. thanks man <3
  • @keminoharrul9071
I like the new format, makes the explanations before the run proper starts better. Amazing video as always!
  • @muffalogmartin6564
I'm not sure which is more impressive, the speed run itself or the 1000 mile an hour commentary that accompanies it. Great job man
  • @svahn1
I like the new intro with the explanation of mechanics. I'm very familiar with odyssey so it wasn't much help for me this video specifically, but I can see it being super useful to people who don't know much about the game.
