The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has been hinting and teasing future new Zelda games for years. And this has become extra clear after the most recent Nintendo Direct where Echoes of Wisdom was announced. What others teases has Aonuma done before? Could there be some for Ocarina of Time remake of the next big open world or open air Zelda game? Let's talk about it!

Hey! I’m the one who did the Game Informer interview with Aonuma and Fujibayashi and asked the question about the OoT remake. Thanks for continuing to cover our interviews on Zelda. Since you pointed it out that he will sometimes say his answers in English, I feel it pertinent to say that, while I didn’t type that he changed language during the interview, he did, in fact, laugh, then say “no comment” in English.

2010 quote. "Easy to me does not equal fun," Aonuma explained. "I want puzzles where people have to think about it, and when they solve the puzzle, there's that feeling of accomplishment. That's something that's really valuable, that concrete feeling that when you accomplish something [in the game], it feels like you've done something worth doing. If the game is too easy, the accomplishments aren't valuable."

he actually only said “maybe!” once… the other two “maybes” were echoes… Echoes of Wisdom!
  • Nintendo is gonna see this and force Aonuma to never laugh at anything ever again
  • @uppernimbus
I think it's hilarious that Aonuma is just as excited as the fans with future Zelda games and simply cannot keep his mouth shut 🤣 I'm feeling good about that OOT remake as well for Switch 2, would make a lot of sense to tide us over until the next open-world Zelda entry.

There are many things from BotW they could add to Ocarina Remake, no loading screens between sections of Hyrule or entering buildings, the way we use items, voice acting… it’s the perfect candidate to try balancing classic Zelda design fans want with the new freedom formula.
  • Nintendo: brings Aonuma into the office Aonuma: “Yes boss? Did my last interview get me in trouble” Nintendo: laughs

Aouma is like the uncle who can’t keep a secret, that we all love!
  • @FTChomp9980
Aonuma always teases there could be a teaser in Echoes of Wisdom for the next 3D Zelda. We know it would be Open World but yeah we need Traditional Dungeons back in the Open World Zelda maybe give Link a Darker Story again like in Twilight Princess.
  • I would love to see a OoT remake! As long as a MM remake comes not too long after that! 😊:_link::_linktotk::_linkoot:
  • A couple of these quotes I think shouldn't be filed under "teases" and more like "acknowledgements". Some of them read as him seeming to say "oh didn't realize there was fan interest in that, we'll put a pin in that for a later project." ...Also please let those Ganondorf comments go somewhere lol.

Eiji Aonuma, PLEASE Give us Remakes/Ports of Wind Waker, A Link Between Worlds & Ocarina of Time 🙏
  • my theory is that rauru has many incarnations, always like a guiding figure, an old man, an owl, etc
  • @a.jthomas6132
I have known Rauru since Ocarina of Time is my very first Zelda game. But when I found out the first King that founded Hyrule is also named Rauru, I was very surprised. I wish he had more screentime and being Link’s companion since fans loved this character.

This is such a great video. And MAN would an OOT Switch 2 remake be a phenomenal way to show off the new hardware, almost like a tech demo to show people what it can do. OOT Remake as the one last thing for the June 2025 Direct would be amazing
  • @tyg-zw7nn
It does seem like they are leading up to something Ocarina related. There's also the ocarina/majora character designs all throughout Echoes of Wisdom.
  • @linkmaster959
The excitement of exploring a huge temple and wonder of where and what the key item will be is what i miss. The key items made exploring temples so fun and then once you finish the temples you can go back to places you have previously explored and get around to places you couldnt before. That is ruined with the full open air design that allows you to cheese certain things.

If Aouma would reconsidered his decision on canceling the DLC for Tears of the Kingdom, and give us a Master Mode and a companion story with a playable Princess Zelda, I would be at peace. I would like see more of her journey in the distant past, as well as give Mineru, Sonia and Rauru more screentime, learn more about the Zonai race, give more in depth of who Ganondorf is before he became the Demon King, make the Anceint Sages more fleshed out, and connect the dots of how TOTK is related to BOTW.
