So-called smash and grab burglars, who break car windows and take anything left inside, are a nationwide problem. To get a closer look at these wrongdoers, Inside Edition hid a GPS tracking device inside a speaker and a designer purse, and left them in plain view in a car in San Francisco. It didn’t take long before two people broke the car’s back window and took the goods, in broad daylight. Then it was time to activate the GPS units and see where the stolen items were headed. #InsideEdition

“What the thieves don’t know is that we actually put a c4 in the speaker”

"Hey mom, i stole a speaker, and this lady won't leave me alone"
  • Until thieves face real consequences, this will continue to escalate.
  • You can make fun of Inside Edition all you want, but at least they’re exposing people like this and actually doing something to help minimize it

“And for our last trick we rigged this car with explosives”

0:35 “We’re gonna put our tracking device DEEP inside” Throws inside and zips up -_-

This is some great journalism by lisa guerrero. She has a lot of guts following him and confronting just her and a cameraman with no cops involved (or security from the looks of things). Much respect for this type of investigative journalism to her and the person behind camera. That takes a lot

Unbelievable. Even reporting about it and thinking it can't happen to them unwillingly.
  • He didn't call his mom, he called the girl who had the bag and thats why she stashed it in a trash can smh

What the robbers didn’t know is that we put four sticks of C4 in the speakers
  • The fact that they actually left their belongings in the car is crazy

“We’re in hot pursuit” stops at traffic light

Imagine being called a "Bonnie and Clyde wannabe"

"We're going to put our tracking device DEEP inside the purse" *just tosses it in*
  • That second one was comical. You're going to park your vehicle in a known hotspot and leave it unattended after setting up another vehicle to see how long it takes for a smash and grab.🤪
