A shocking video shows a police officer kicking and stamping on a man's head as he is restrained on the floor of Manchester Airport.

You can watch it here on LBC: www.lbc.co.uk/news/police-officer-suspended-man-ki…

Assistant Chief Constable Wasim Chaudhry said: “We know that a film of an incident at Manchester Airport that is circulating widely shows an event that is truly shocking, and that people are rightly extremely concerned about. The use of such force in an arrest is an unusual occurrence and one that we understand creates alarm....One male officer has been removed from operational duties and we are making a voluntary referral of our policing response to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.”

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Manchester, said: "I have seen the disturbing video footage circulating of a GMP officer at Manchester Airport and recognise the widespread and deep concern this has caused in Greater Manchester and beyond.”

Nick Ferrari is joined by Criminology Professor Peter Squires (00:24) and Social Commentator & Founder of Run Racism Out Bushra Shaikh (04:02) to discuss the incident.

It's ironic that we install CCTV cameras everywhere, yet if you're a bystander with a camera, the police will tell you not to film.
  • @ScepticalBrit
They should release the CCTV from Manchester Airport in full
  • @abc98127
Why other police officer trying to stop from filming?
  • @donners304
Wow, when Nick thinks the treatment of people of colour is a bit harsh you know it was rough

That cop completely lost control of himself, he let his anger take over his training, and should not be trusted with a firearm.

This is what happens when you give a psychopath a badge and a gun. Ego absolute!
  • @sai1118
How did one skinny unarmed kid manage to injure three cops so badly? They must be incompetent and he must have fists of steel. Bizarre.
  • @nadin3841
Does no one else see the same officer kick the man behind and then proceed to hit him with tazer in the head

Many years ago my brother was beaten up by police and you could do nothing about it
  • Why is the caller making excuses for this officers behaviour. He is contradicting himself as well
  • @williamcoopey892
What else has this officer done when there have been no cameras

In the heat of the moment! Theyre supposed to be Trained officers
  • @MuslimTours
There are other clips available such as 2 passers who were pepper sprayed and man handled for just asking questions about their force

Firstly. Let's be under no illusion, it there wasn't footage of the incident, it would have been covered up. Secondly, as a fire arms officer, he will have been trained to a higher standard than your average policeman/woman. As such, are we to assume the officer lost his temper? In which case he absolutely should not be carrying a gun. Although we have no real knowledge of what may have transpired previously, it it pretty clear that the victim was prone and of no immediate threat. Suspension, is not enough, he should at the very least lose his firearms licence but, in my opinion be sacked from the force.

More copaganda. People been saying forever that this state violence would be normalised. And it’s about to get way worse. Wake up people.

The word is not 'context' or 'reason', the word is 'motive'. That officer committed a criminal act. The fact that he did it while also carrying out his official duties is irrelevant. Would it be excusable for a police officer to steal from a shop just because he's in the middle of arresting the shopkeeper? Of course not. A crime is a crime.

It’s too much. The man was on floor with no resistance. Anger management and professionalism is so important full stop!!!

  • @bibiwooz6433
You don’t trained people by kicking the victim, once they are in the floor, they should not kicked.
