Georgia have never been to a major tournament before. And being an immigrant in Britain is getting increasingly tough.

Alongside the FootballJOE team, we are watching the Euros with fans from immigrant communities to find out what being an immigrant in Britain feels like while supporting your home nation away from home.

Cem Ibrahim (@uncut_cem) headed to 80 20 Wines in Dulwich to speak to owners Mako and Batchi about what playing at their first Euros means to the people of Georgia, and the Georgian community in London.

  • Georgia is in Asia not Europe. In that case, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Kazakhstan and other nearby countries may as well be considered ‘European’. The fact is most of these countries are not geographically within the continent of Europe. Honestly, the inferiority complex and the fact they are ashamed of being an Asian country is disgusting.

I'm an EU immigrant in the UK. Decade of continuous employment, paying taxes. I even passed "Life in the UK" and the English tests in preparation of obtaining UK citizenship. I got the paperwork in order and I just had to pay the fee. This year I'm leaving the UK. I don't know if it was 10 years of continuous downfall or if I just learned too much over this decade, but I don't feel like I am or even could be part of it. I'm done.

BTW The video talks how Georgia is small and has only been independent for 30 years... It is one of the most ancient countries, the first Christian country in Europe if I recall correctly. As a Slav I feel nothing but brotherly feelings to my Georgian brethren <3
