Skyfall's cinematographer deserves a raise for these gorgeous shots.
  • All due respect to the older Bond movies, but in my opinion, Casino Royale and Skyfall are the two best James Bond movies ever made, as well as the two best Bond portrayals & performances ever. The storytelling, the acting, the cinematography…top marks all the way around. Creating typical Bond outlandishness, but rooting it in modern realism & sensibility. Weaving together action, adventure, drama, and tragedy…two film masterpieces. Top marks all around, especially for Daniel Craig—who at this point, is inarguably one of the two best Bond actors ever, at the least. Sean Connery is the only other one you could even make a case for.

During the opening credits of "Skyfall" in theaters, I saw the name of Albert Finney. The moment when he came out from the shadows, everyone in the audience cheered up, because they knew that his character is going to be the coolest person. He indeed left a cinematic legacy this actor. Gone, but never forgotten.

When I first saw the still photo, I was annoyed Bond hadn’t shut the driver’s door properly. Then I saw the film, knew that M was sleeping when he got out, and he left the door that way so as not to wake her. That’s filmmaking.

"you don't need to ask that. You know the whole story" Was terrifically acted by Craig you can hear the trauma he experienced and then buried in his own mind
  • I fell that "Skyfall" is the best James Bond movie ever made. There was a lot of heartfelt emotion in it. Seeing where Bond grew up was very touching. It made Bond seem almost like a real human being.

Bloody hell, I watch these clips and I want to go and rewatch these movies. Daniel Craig is such a damn good actor. In just the 4 007 films he’s done you can see the way his character ages, as though he’s actually human.

I like how Kincaid calls M Emma, after Bond calls her M.
  • "Orphans always make the best recruits": in other words that connection with fellow humans is close to nonexistent, this explains why 007 is the man he is - good writing here, as for the cinematography........excellent to say the least!.
  • It's incredible the way Dench and Craig nailed the friendship as it would be in those circumstances. Such talented artists.

This movie is so fantastic. What I like about Daniel Craig's tenure as 007 is that his films have really managed to take the 007 film formula and update it to modern sensibilities while also rolling in Bond's character traits and overall darker, grittier tone found in Ian Fleming's novels. Just really, really awesome all around.

00:34 "...How old were you when they died..." "...You know the whole story..." "...orphans often make the best recruits..." "...a storm is coming..." then a slight and knowing smile by both of them. There is obviously a deep connection between them that went far beyond employee and boss. Very insightful scene, the best in all the James Bond films, in my opinion. I hope we learn the whole story in future films.
  • The dark horse of the movie is Roger Deakins who has provided with mesmerizing cinematography , be it shanghai tower scene , climax scene or macau scene. Cinematography work of Deakins adds a great value to a movie . He owned Blade runner 2049 too .

That first scene makes me fall in love with Scotland landscape.

I've always loved the way Craig delivers the "you know the whole story" line. Very childlike as if there's never been any parent figures in his life apart from his paymasters. Fantastic performance

I remember many people used to criticise the fact the filmmakers apparently 'destroyed a lovely, old house' in the making of this film. Au contraire, this house, both the exterior, and interior, were fabricated from scratch for the film. The outside of the house was merely an empty shell, rigged with explosives, on a British army field, in Surrey, England. All of the interior was built on a soundstage at Pinewood Studios. Still, it looks so real, and beautiful.

Fun fact, there were rumors that Connery was set to be considered to play Kincaid. However assuming that Connery who was happily retired would’ve been willing to come out of retirement briefly, the producers opted not to out of concern his appearance would’ve been distracting from the rest of the film. Additionally it would’ve given credence to the theory that alongside the agent given the designation 007, they would be given the alias James Bond

Nothing touches Skyfall. The best Bond. period.
