This is how you politely announce to your neighbours that you will have to practice at home for the foreseeable future 😁

When I was a child in the 50's, there was a man who would sing opera in this lot in the middle of our apartments about 9 am in the morning. He sang beautifully. People would throw coins down to him. I felt so bad because he was so poor. I use to think he could be rich if he could sing on television.

All the neighbours had well priced seating, at no cost whatsoever

When you don’t understand a single word but still get goosebumps.

I think the most beautifully surreal thing, is that she's doing all of this while wearing a letterman jacket and jeans.
  • Imagine people from the other building like: what is she saying? Can't hear a thing

What if a male opera singer was nearby and just joined her. Best duet ever!!!

It was beautiful how she made eye contact with different members of the audience. And equally as beautiful that so many of her neighbors stopped, stood, listened and appreciated what they were being given.
  • When you know you don’t need a microphone, you know you can sing…….that is absolutely stunning. Thank you 🙏

For anyone who is interested in hearing more from this opera, it’s “Gianni Schicchi,” a comedy by Puccini. This piece is called “O mio babbino caro;” one of my all time favorites. :)
  • Wouldn’t mind her doing this in my neighborhood so long as she wasn’t singing early in the morning. Beautiful voice.
  • I cried. Not just from how beautiful she sounded but also for putting herself out there to give a little cheer for everyone stuck at home a year ago.

During that time everyone was terrified almost like the end of humanity was coming to an end. If I heard her voice I'd probably think.. Oh ok I'm probably heading to heaven anyways.

What a lovely gesture for her neighbours. What lucky neighbours.

"People's reactions to opera the first time they see it is very dramatic; they either love it or they hate it. If they love it, they will always love it. If they don't, they may learn to appreciate it, but it will never become part of their soul." - Richard Gere, from the movie Pretty Woman This moment, this beautiful person singing Opera during quarantine for her neighbors, just officially made Opera a part of my soul. ❤
  • Never have I ever broke into tears listening to a song in a foreign language before. I'm absolutely balling. This is beautiful in so many ways.

Her neighbors are so blessed. I just dream of sitting on my balcony, having my coffee, and listening to that wonderful voice. 🥰
