The reason it got discontinued was because of the fact that sonic booms over populated areas was not a very good thing for peoples ears so it was only used for trans-Atlantic flights. As well as the fuel required for supersonic flight was quite expensive. Another fact about the Concorde was that it was the second passenger aircraft to be built for supersonic flight. Boeing did make a concept of a supersonic passenger aircraft but it never got to the prototype stage. (Boeing 2707 for those wondering)
