LYRICS

In a mirrored room
All alone I stand
Strip away the phantom fame
Exposing all sides to see
The good and bad in me

In a mirrored room
All alone I stand
Seeing past the flesh and bone
The shame and the fear I hide
Could I show you what’s inside?

Would you
Criticize, scrutinize
Stigmatize my pain?
Would you
Summarize, patronize
Classify insane?

So I stand here
Before you
You might judge
You might just bury me

Or you might set me free

In a mirrored room
Talking to myself
And the voices pushing back
I’ll let them inside my heart
But they’ll tear it all apart

In a mirrored room
Just a simple man
Naked, broken, beat, and scarred
What do I really know?
That fear of letting go

Would you
Criticize, scrutinize
Analyze my pain?
Would you
Summarize, patronize
Classify insane?

So I stand here
Before you
You might judge
You might just bury me

Or you might set me
Or you might set me free

Would you
Criticize, scrutinize
Ostracize my pain?
Would you
Summarize, patronize
Classify insane?

So I stand here
Before you
You might judge
You might just bury me

Or you might set me
Oh, please won’t you set me free

That harmonizing guitars with the double bass at 4:56 was the highlight of the album for me. Really hit me.

This is the "Spit Out The Bone" of 72 Seasons. Absolutely brilliant.

This song contains the spirit of every element that made Metallica the legends that they are. Goosebumps.

For me, Metallica is best band of all time..Their music helped me to make the hardest days of my life so much easier to bear. You may love them, you may not. But one thing is undeniable that they will always be remembered
  • The part at 4:43 might be one of the best vocal lines James has ever done in his entire career. Mixed with the harmonized guitars there, it makes me absolutely ASCEND.
  • i was assistant editor and worked hands on with the team on this project with Metallica! i gotta say it really came out amazing, please thank you to all, this track was just absolute phenomenal. during one of our lunch breaks we had kfc, james and lars comes walking in and james grabbed a chicken wing, one of the techs says in a growl 'spit out the bone', everyone just started laughing and james just stops looks and smiles. these guys are just absolutely amazing, thank you again guys 👏

I got to work on this with a team of incredible animators! - so touched so many of you like it 🤘🤘
  • For me this is the best song on this album. It's different, refreshing , somewhat innovative
  • In 2018 I lost my dear brother unexpectedly and tragically. Before that tradegy we would both skip work anytime a new Metallica album would come out. From Load to Hardwired- we would both take off a day from our jobs to immerse ourselves in the latest Metallica release. My brother had no musical background, but he adored harmonized guitars from Metallica- think Orion or Misery. For whatever reason you guys would touch his soul with those harmonized guitars. He should say that it "punched him in his gut". He had an excellent ear for epic melodies. While listening today at the harmonized parts I was reminded that my brother would have loved this tune. I wept like a baby for the first time since he passed while listening to this track. I doubt this would ever reach the band, but today because of this song his son and I decided to finally spread his ashes. I have a deep connection with the Thin Lizzy "Black Rose" in regards to my now passed Mother. Now I can say I have a bit of closure that I desperately needed for my brother because if this song. I know he would say, "damn that sounds good" in regards to those harmonized guitars and double drum beats. I thank Metallica for giving me a little peace regarding my brother's passing. Thank you so much. He would have loved this song. His son and I will play it when we spread his ashes. I would give anything to listen to this with him. I have hope that will be reality one day. Thank you guys for giving me an epic melodious harmony that will continoulsy remind me of my dear brother... his name was Eddie and he loved Metallica.❤

This and Inamorata are the most fresh and innovative songs in the album. They really bring something new to Metallica discogrpahy
