We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

My goodness. All that for an inch and half. Handy to have the little backhoe. 😊
  • Don’t be to hard on yourself We all do make mistakes! But I love how humble you two are. Blessings to you both!

Lesson learned. When in doubt, dig by hand and put caution tape over utilities to avoid future problems.
  • I think the best part of your mishaps is that you have the ability to fix most anything.😊❤❤❤❤❤

This shows why it’s a good idea to mark your utilities with metal tape. You can find it easy with a metal detector. Enjoying the channel.

I would have considered myself dang lucky and left that post an inch and a half off lol. I just love you two! You get along so well. Glad you got your water line fixed.
  • Old habits are hard to break. I have faith in you both. I think you're fortunate that you know how to fix a mistake or a broken water line. You two work well together. That's a blessing 😊

Stressful day, but you handled it with humour, so well done.

I'm exhausted just watching this episode! Glad you got it fixed and your project closer to completion.

Alligare Diuron 80DF Is what I have used for my duckweed problem. Works amazing. Don't use it if you're going to use pond water to water your garden. Keep on working that retirement job. Thanks for the videos.

Howdy Evan and Rebekah, I worked 30 yrs in water and gas distribution. I have to agree with Rebekah's superstitions. We never said take one more bucket whilst excavating as that would ensure that we would hit something. We just said take another one...that seemed to keep Mr. Murphy and his gremlins away. Excellent repair. You two are a great team. We also had a wall of shame to remind folks to be cautious and safe. Have A Day! ;~)

First clue.. "It looks like it wants to go sideways ;)" Congrats on the fix... was gonna note to put a stake marker where that fix is in case it fails later you will know exactly where to dig to fix.

I don't think moving the post because of it being off by a very unnoticeable amount was worth all the hassel. In the first place it's in an area that you won't see every day! Sorry but Rebecca was spot on with her advice, plus I've been watching long enough to know your OCD causes you more mistakes! Just like mine does I've learned to get over it, it's not the end of the world when it didn't come out of work like I wanted, lol! Sorry it happened just learn from it like all of us who have OCD. Nice job fixing it though!
  • He that never screws up, never does anything. That shows you work and do it well.

What just happened to you with the waterline is exactly why I always take pictures and measurements then that way I know exactly where they’re at. I put them in her notebook album and anytime I need to dig a ditch. I checked the album to see where my lines are.🍻
  • 😂😂😂😂😂😂 We've all been there. I once hit a main line going into a dairy factory. The fountain it caused was about 25 feet in the air .😂

If you don't have already....MIGHT have a good skamatic drawing of your infrastructure (water, electric, etc lines) Your perfectionism gets you into issues, circumstances and problems, etc. Evan....you used the right word "clerity" that's what you need to concentrate on in ALL you endeavors!
  • @55dennie
I was waiting for the mud wrestling to begin at any moment!! 🤣❤️
