Fun Fact: It's revealed through radio ads in BL3, S&S aren't just still around, they canonically make the glowing beacon lights that alert you to items in the overworld. It's not just a gameplay feature, it's lore!
  • @Iwashere991
Mt theory with tediore is that you don't buy a $10k gun. You buy 10K $1 guns.
  • @DHKrieg
You forgot Gearbox, which is an in game manufacturer with legendaries, too. Also, the Tediore reload is technically an issue. Their guns were meant to just instantly reload but they'd explode, so they just rebranded it as a feature.
  • @edenengland1883
in BL2 you dont actually fund hyperion at all because youre buying your weapons from Marcus, who just gets his stock from bandits and vault hunters or are otherwise looting them from enemies
  • S&S munitions are still around just that they rebranded as S&S accessories which they are the lore reason for all the customization items like heads skins and the light beams that come from the guns you see on the ground, they stopped making guns because of how easy it was for random people to just build their own massive capacity mags.
  • @Chokah
I always pictured Tediore as what you actually buy is a cheap portable digistruct system with one design hardwired into it When the gun leaves your hand it triggers a self-destruct and activates the digistruct module.

Something about Jakobs that you didn’t mention is their “cask aged gunpowder” so that every round fired has that signature Jakobs smell. They also made a gun that shoots out swords, for when you want to stab someone, but they’re too far away

Side note, Hyperion Sniper Rifles have a special unlisted mechanic where the longer you're scoped in, the more accuracy they gain, replacing the usual "gets more accurate as you fire". This change is reflected in the tags of the Hyperion snipers in 3, but not in 2 and TPS despite it being present.

Minor note on BL1 Tediore: All of their legendary and pearlescent weapons have innate ammo regeneration. That's like the whole gimmick on all of them.
  • @Sora-md1ye
When you think Tediore, you think of the people who made throwing an empty gun a viable combat method. You've definitely seen at least one action flick where a guy does it.
  • @Codex_0613
I've always think of Vladof as the "If you can't aim, then just shoot more bullets at the enemy. Statistically, one of them is bound to hit... eventually"
  • @novatopaz9880
I actually like Dahl in BL3, but that might also just be me really liking the military aesthetic and the ability to swap fire modes to basically turn my assault rifles into sniper rifles.
  • One thing worth mentioning is that in Bl3 Torgue seemingly found a workaround for the whole "Laser=Not Explode" by making there laser gun also fire Micro Rockets thus creating the "Lasersploder"
  • @MILDMONSTER1234
I like to imagine Hyperions Pistols became their SMG‘s as their SMG‘s this time in 3 look very much like Machine Pistols
  • I miss S&S manufacturer. I loved their Thanatos and Orion legendary weapons. Especially with a high fire rate or x2 variant.
  • @Syndylon
With Dahl and the burst fire fully auto thing, you can explain it as your character changing the firing mode whenever they aim down sights as most rifles are able to switch between fully auto and burst fire.

Correction: Tediore didn't INTENTIONALLY create their unique reload. It came as an unfortunate defect after they experimented on newer, faster ways of reloading. Tediore couldn't fix it, so they marketed it as a "feature"--instead of "life-threatening"--added digistruct tech, and voila. Tediore's stock soared overnight
  • @naenre21
Jakobs is my favorite manufacturer just due to their motto from BL2. "If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs." They even say they're into home protection and a family!
  • @aersla1731
If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs.
