  • Gillard: *Directly quotes the leader of opposition* Members of his party *get mad*
  • @jae5123
She dug that man a grave and said “don’t be shy, step in.”
  • He smirks at the start but the smirk quickly fades.
  • The thing I love the most is she NEVER, not once, let her flow get interrupted by heckling. Calm, measured, firm, yet schooled rage.
  • @Greapes
Him at beginning: 😏 Middle: 🙂 Near the end: 😕 The end: 😟
  • She slaughtered him. And when she finished she did it again, and again, and again, and again.
  • “This government is not dying of shame. My father did not die of shame!” This is one of the most powerful moments in this speech for me. For context, earlier in the speech, Julia refers to the conduct of the Sydney Young Liberals as well as some members of the opposition who were also in attendance at a party meeting. Someone at this meeting had joked in a speech that Julia’s father (who had recently passed away) died of shame, alluding to her performance as prime minister. Everyone in the audience laughed and cheered and it wasn’t until someone leaked it to the media that anyone in attendance pretended to be offended.
  • He was laughing at the start. How much his face falls during the course of Julia reiterating his record of misogyny is pure gold.
  • This woman made me feel like a strong intelligent Australian woman and i'm an African man
  • She came with receipts. Honestly, I'm surprised he didn't start crying. She destroyed him.
  • He then, disgustingly, became Prime Minister. But ultimately he got smacked down by the voters of his own long-standing conservative electorate who voted for a talented, intelligent, community-minded woman (who happens to also be a former Olympic athlete and medallist). Progress is never a straight path, but it is one worth following all the way.
  • I wish I could have stood up in such fashion to my bullies earlier in my life. The anger is real but it is controlled and she never once loses composure - this is her narrative and she owns it. Watching her ripping her smug tormentor to shreds when he finally went too far brings tears to my eyes.
  • @jemus1000
I've never felt so proud to be an Australian woman even though my passport says I'm a German man
  • @jdomsmith
I swear he ages one year every time the camera cuts to him. 🧒🧔👴💀👻
  • Not a filler word, not a single uh or um... because all that she said, came from the truth in her soul.
  • @intreoo
Seeing his smirk get wiped off was so satisfying.
  • @marckye1
I just love how his smirk face starts to fading away... lol
  • I love how she doesn’t let anyone interrupt or distract her
  • I re-watch this video whenever I feel down about adverse world events, and issues pertaining to misogyny. Julia's speech makes me feel that there is still hope for us and that we can stand up to sexism. I want to be just like Julia when I grow up. Thank you, Ms Gillard!
