Botanist here. You can ripen your fruit faster by putting it in a paper bag with a banana. Banana’s produce a lot of the plant hormone that ripens fruit. So any other fruit you pair with it will ripen much faster.

As a starfruit enjoyer, those were not just underripe, they weren’t ripened at all. This would be like using green bananas for your dessert and then complaining that it didn’t have a very nice banana flavor. Wait for your starfruit to turn yellow next time, otherwise they’re just gonna be bitter and unpleasant.
