For years, Krasimir Kamenov had a fearsome reputation as a mobster on the streets of Bulgaria. But for over a decade, he was hiding out in Constantia, living the high life with his beauty queen wife and entourage while socialising with other ex-patriate Bulgarians. Now Kamenov is dead, brutally assassinated with his family and staff. The murders remain a mystery despite an ongoing police investigation. It seems Eastern European criminals have come to Cape Town to set up stations for drug trafficking and the exploitation of South Africaโ€™s unprotected coastline, its porous ports and lacklustre policing. Much of this is happening in the leafy lanes of well-to-do suburbs where neighbours turn a blind eye to the comings and goings of glamourous foreigners. Carte Blanche investigates.

Not all druggies are standing on street corners, others are wearing suits sitting in their offices

You know someone is lying when they say they came to South Africa for a peaceful life ๐Ÿ˜‚
  • Thank you Carte Blanche for continually opening our consciousness to the reality of our country through investigative journalism.
  • The ease with which these people obtain SA IDs also shows how much Home Affairs has already been infiltrated by criminal networks. And this has been going on for a long time.
  • Next time you think Nigerians are who you should be fully focused on, come and watch this. People don't know how much drug money is hidden behind the high walls in suburbs...people worry too much about the small guys and forget the big guys they should really be worrying about.

I'm so glad that the children weren't harmed. My heart goes out to them. They're so young

Cape Town has always had its fair share of Eastern European Mobsters. Thatโ€™s why I donโ€™t loose my cool with people in Southern Suburbs traffic ๐Ÿคฃ

What's not covered in this piece is the fact that the SAPS members who confiscated all the drugs just sell it on themselves, so the criminal activity just continues.

  • @InstigatorDJ
How does a wanted international criminal get issued a South African ID???
  • @doremi131
Criminals from all over the world live luxurious lives in South Africa. Bulgaria, Serbia. They come to South Africa as what exactly?
  • It's shows that one can't hide, if they want you, they find you...๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  • The cops are in deep with them. I personally knew Yuri Ulianitski aka "Yuri the Russian" very well. The entire Milnerton Police Station was involved with him, with the blessing of the bigshots at their Caledon Square big brass.
  • They have a lab of drugs inside their houses there in Constantia

When Marc Batchelor died a world opened, here some of us were thinking things have gotten better since Radovan was in jail but itโ€™s gotten worse. Cry the beloved country
