well its that time of year again at the end of may in 2024
  • I will never understand how a band was actually able to capture the feeling of a hot late may afternoon. Incredible
  • This was a buddy of mine's favorite BÖC song. He passed at the end of May this year (2022). Rest in peace Monte, l miss you brother.

Song is based on an actual event A drug deal gone bad. 3 guys were shot. 2 died and 1 survived The song is from the perspective of the survivor

My birthday is on May 31st, and I always play this song on that day.

The most beautiful song ever written about young men dying during a drug deal, IMO.

Such a chill song, even though the lyrics tell a dark tale.

Parched land, no desert sand Sun is just a dot And a little bit of water goes a long way 'cause it's hot (it's hot) Three good buddies were laughin' and smokin' In the back of a rented Ford They couldn't know they weren't going far Each one, with the money in his pocket Could go out and buy himself a brand new car But they all held the money they had Money they hoped would take them very far Sky's bright, the traffic light Now and then a truck And they hadn't seen a cop around all day (what luck) They brought everything they needed Bags and scales to weigh the stuff The driver said, "The border's just over the bluff" It wasn't until the car suddenly stopped In the middle of a cold and barren plain And the other guy turned and spilled Three boys' blood, did they know a trap had been lain? They're OK the last days of May But I'll be breathin' dry air I'm leavin' soon The others are already there (all there) Wouldn't be interested in comin' along Instead of staying here? It's said the West is nice this time of year It's what they say

This is one of those songs you remember the first time you ever heard it and for me that was on April 1st of this year on Illinois Route 54 in Mt. Pulaski.

I heard this song the other day when my dad brought me home from school. When I first heard this song it made me really want to get into BOC. I had heard a few of their songs before but never went to in deep with their discography. The sound of their music is just entrancing, every time I've gone to listen to something I feel hooked. Everything about their music just feels unique to me, I'm still somewhat new to this genre but I haven't heard a whole lot like them. Blue Oyster Cult is easily one of my favorite bands, I'm glad my dad showed me them.
