2019-01-05に共有
Budd Chiari syndrome is defined as the obstruction of the hepatic and terminal portions of the inferior vena cava. There are several risk factors and aetiologies of this condition, the most prominent of which are myeloproliferative neoplasms, OCP use and infections. The conditions presents with abdominal pain, ascites and jaundice, although the entire spectrum of liver disease related complications may be present. The diagnosis relies on Doppler USG and occasionally, an abdominal magnetic resonance imaging. The management includes anticoagulation, treatment of the underlying cause and in advanced or refractory cases, TIPS and liver transplant.
