Thank you for doing this. Billions are lost to scammers yearly. I almost fell for this one myself. I figured it out before answering because the email in the from line at the top looked off. So I texted my friend and asked if she sent the email. Of course she didn't . Then I blocked and reported the sender. Since then I started looking at the from email line to see if the email is real. If the email doesn't match my friend's, I block and report. I get a message from a business with a screwy email, block and report. If the from email is not showing, that email gets blocked and reported as well. This has cut down on the junk emails for me. Hope this helps.

I’m SO sorry to hear this. These scammers are so clever you can’t be blamed for this. If only they put the same effort into doing something good and useful the world would be a much better place.

Lesa have you reported this to the gendarmes? They keep a detailed record of ‘escroqueries’ , it will help them to try to identify these scums.

Good reminder

I fell for one when my husband was sick and I was distracted. A phone call from my “grandson” who said he had been in an auto accident, was in jail, needed bail money and please not to call his father. Fortunately I said I would see what I could do, thinking that I would have to get him a lawyer. My husband heard my side of the call and said, forcefully, to call our son, his father. I did, and…he was having lunch with our grandson as we spoke. NOT in jail. So no money was lost, but I felt so stupid and it was a wake up call for sure. I am sorry for your situation, but so proud and respectful of you for telling people about it. Wishing you all good things!

Happened to me too. They phoned me and said that my account was compromised and I needed to open a secure account and send my money there. They confuse you into believing them. Thank goodness it wasn’t a lot of money but still felt like an idiot for ages. Glad you sorted it out ❤
