Last year I picked up In My Dreams, and while I enjoyed it, I had trouble with the way she skipped around. I really like multiple timelines, so that wasn’t the problem, but for some reason I got so distracted with hers. I may read more of her thrillers, I am not a romance reader at all, but I do think I’ll give her thrillers another chance. Maybe Midnight is the best choice.

I love Ashley Winstead I am on my 3rd book from her right now. I am currently reading The Last Housewife and I am loving it! I haven't tried her rom-coms yet but I will have to check them out. Thank you for this author spotlight.

TBWBM apparently stands for This Book Will Bury Me and it's set to get published in March 2025. No other info on the book but I really love that title!

Bella from the Twilight books is a problematic character for middle school/high school girls because what is portrayed as romantic or acceptable behavior from men is mostly not okay. I read an article about the difference between girls who identify with Hermione (Harry Potter) and girls who identify with Bella and it was interesting. I was teaching middle school at the time and also knew other girls that age and the article was spot on. Girls who romanticize the character of Bella and think that her marriage to Edward was so amazing tended to be very insecure, allow others to tell them what to think and how to feel about things, and make questionable choices about how they let others, especially males, treat them. Hermione girls still had the usual anxiety and frustration with growing up and figuring things out, but they had a feeling of intrinsic value and were more likely to make decisions that were in their best interest regardless of social pressure. Adults can read whatever they like and I don’t care, but it’s helpful for younger women to have conversations about why most of the “romance” in the books is red flag material—enjoying the story is one thing—letting people treat you like that is something very different.
  • Great video. I picked up the Idaho book and have been following the case. Also read all of Ashley’s thrillers.

I had such a good time with Fool Me Once, which I just read a couple of months ago. I need to get to Boyfriend Candidate this summer. I also haven't yet read MIdnight is the Darkest Hour which really intrigues me. Great video!
