DIY Furniture Makeover: TALLBOY Upgrade with WRAPPING PAPER #diy #furnitureflip #furnituremakeover

Published 2024-06-15
For this furniture makeover, I found this cute vintage tallboy dresser for $35 at Goodwill and knew I could do something a little different using wrapping paper! I'm always trying to figure out how to add color and patterns to furniture and this cute tallboy was a perfect opportunity. It's a perfect blend of elegant and playful, my favorite combo.

This makeover seems straightforward but there are always surprises popping up. This week we encountered:
- Bleedthrough after priming
- Filling extensive large surface of wood grain to create a smooth, uniform surface

//SUMMARY
In this week's furniture makeover, I paint a vintage tallboy dresser with Benjamin Moore Advance paint and add wrapping paper to the front. The makeover process includes cleaning, sanding, repairing, priming, stain blocking, painting, and adding the paper detail. I ran into some bleeding and wood grain that I wanted to remove and pivoted to make those repairs.

    I thought the wrapping should have been aligned so it appears continuous...just MT opinion 😁 very fun!

    So great to know that you can get something scanned at the paint store and find a color match. Super cool. Thanks for sharing this how-to!

    Not trying to be critical, but there are so many plain and/or common dressers out there to refurbish. Personally, when i find one with some interesting details, I will highlight thise details. But i appreciate the tutorial for sure! ❤
  • Its very cute, the comments are too harsh. You did a nice job and its all about creativity and God gave us all our own minds! 💕

    I agree with @debracrews5216. You covered the ostrich print, which I found to be the most distinctive part of the dresser, with a garish print while the rest of the dresser was drab.
  • I’m sad you covered the ostrich print. Love the idea of wrapping paper great idea!
  • I have a Harmon dresser. Painted it with Dixie Bell Bunker Blue.
  • I think it turned out very nice. Sorry you had rude comments. Unfortunately, no matter what you do, someone will find fault and give their opinion. Trolls are on every channel.
