Drummer Larnell Lewis of Snarky Puppy and various other projects plays with saxman Joshua Redman, bassist from Snarky Puppy Michael League and guitarist Lionel Loueke. This incredible event occurred on February 10, 2018 and took place in GroundUp Festival Miami Beach Florida. Truly one of the greatest jazz groups I’ve ever witnessed.

This guy has indescribable dynamic and feels, not just play as hard as he could. So musical and tasteful.

A truly legendary moment. Ground Up fest, musically speaking, is what every jazz festival in the world thrives to be. You literally learn something from every one of the sets - no filler, all killer.
  • Beware, this sick drum groove will be stuck in your head for the next 2 weeks.

Michael League is a study in the whole history of bass-face every song.

Some of my best live music experiences have been hearing bands with Larnell at the kit. He elevates the music.

I was there. I remember thinking I hope someone is filming this because it was too insanely amazing to not be preserved and shared with others. Thank you so much for filming & posting this. And to the rest of you, I hope you'll get a chance someday to go to the GroundUP Music Festival. Magic moments like this happen several times each day of the festival.

7:47 - 10 sixteenth notes in a row on a single bass drum pedal. He's onto some other shit with his bass drum technique.
