Extra notes/FAQs: - Soul Eater technically isn't a Keyblade. - It is a prerequisite for Way to Dawn, but it was actually a weapon bestowed upon him by the darkness of Ansem. Nomura has confirmed this. However, even though it may not be one strictly speaking, it stills paves the way for one and it doesn't deter from my main point. - Young Xehanort's Keyblade is actually No Name with a unique Keychain, not actually his own Keyblade. - Apparently, according to Nomura, YX doesn't actually have a Keyblade in DDD. This is because (get this...) he time traveled from his childhood days at Destiny Islands and only briefly gets a Keyblade when he fights Riku, because MX's essence takes over YX. Is this made clear at all in the game? Does it completely ignore the fact that Xehanort is retconned to look so much younger in Dark Road and the chess scenes of KH3? Why can he wield his Keyblade so freely in KH3 if he is blatantly the same age in DDD? Don't ask me these questions, ask Nomura. All a bunch of bogus if you ask me. I honestly think it was a retcon, and a terribly sly one at that. I think Dark Road will retcon the details even further to keep in line with the age difference. - Gazing Eyes can be seen on Data Young Xehanort's hitsparks in KH3. - I mentioned that the Gazing Eyes are only seen on Keyblades/Keychains. While still technically true, the Gazing Eyes seen in Xehanort's hitsparks are a result of the Keyblade of course. My point still stands when regarding their relationship with Keyblades and darkness.

In the master's quote about writing down only what the eye in luxu's keyblade saw doesn't neccessarily negate the possibility of multiple eyes, especially since he specifically references it as luxu's rather than just refering to it as the gazing eye or his gazing eye. The need to elaborate a specific keyblade leaves the possibility for multiple keyblades to bear the eye open. Additionally, we know he is intentionally hidong info from darkness so we no he would'nt mention other gazing eyes that will exist. Though, like always an excellent video.

Great theory, I've always wondered about this since Riku got Braveheart! Cause while it can represent character growth, I've always thought it could also be for when plot comes calling. Removing Riku from the roster of characters connected to it, or so Riku didn't have a gazing eye with him when he gets to Quadratum

I just noticed... If you count all the keyblades that had a gazing eye in them... They add up to 13. One for each wilder that should act as a vessel for containing Darkness, maybe? As the 13 original darknesses. Can't be a coincidence. You always have such good points in your videos!!!

Each and every Gazing Eye that isn't on No Name or the other foreteller keyblades is derived from No Name. Vanitias was extracted and given form by Xehanort, using No Name, thus his keyblade has Gazing Eyes. Terra was influenced and corrupted by Xehanort, the wielder of No Name, thus Terra acquires a keychain which gives his keyblade a form with a Gazing Eye. Riku was subtly manipulated by Ansem, Xehanort's heartless, from the beginning of KH1, thus he manifests Soul Eater, a non keyblade weapon with a Gazing Eye, which is later used as the base for Way to the Dawn, which retains the eye. The double bladed Soul Eater that Ansem later used is derived from himself, so it too has Gazing Eyes. Replica Riku of course has a copy of Soul Eater. Even with End of Pain, the entirety of DDD was a setup by Xehanort to turn Sora into a vessel, so of course Sora would gain a keychain granting a form with a Gazing Eye the same way Terra did, and Riku also gains this keychain by virtue of being within Sora's dreams. And as for Young Xehanort's keyblade, it's basically confirmed that he is literally just wielding Master Xehanort's keyblade, his older self possessed him and lent him the keyblade for his fight against Riku in DDD, and in KH3 you never actually see Young Xehanort and Master Xehanort wielding a keybalde at the same time, so Young Xehanort is just borrowing No Name there as well. The reason why is looks different is because it has a keychain attached to it, one created from Young Xehanort's memories of time travelling, just like how other keychains are derived from and empower keyblades through the memories they represent.
  • the editinggg 😙🤌 0:52 the timeline and the page-turn sound chef's kiss Editing videos can be so fun and explorative, I hope this style of video editing becomes the norm, personally. YOU DID A GREAT JOB. If this is the case, it'll be interesting if Darkgnaw's inverted eye is ever expanded upon or brought up again-- in Darkgnaw or a completely new Keyblade..

This just makes me more excited about the future of the series, great work!
  • Really good theory. I always did, on the back of my mind, wonder why certain other keyblades also had the gazing eye. Specifically End of Pain, since it's one of my favorite keyblades next to the Ultimas. The eye being on the Foreteller's keychains rather than their keyblades may be indicative that, despite their role as fated to them by their Master, they have yet to tie themselves to darkness as close as or how their connection is different from comparison to the other characters. Also, personally I don't see MoM's symbol as ironic, mostly symbolic to how despite his intent to destroy the rather destructive darknesses, he knows that he's not exactly innocent and filled with light especially with what he's puppeteering and raising his students to become. Plus, he's even taking advantage of darkness's own traits to destroy them, so he's more or less admitting to his understanding of it beyond just his plan.

That young xehanort fight with the sora eye glitch is still holding water to me after watching this.
  • Honestly, I never supported the idea that MoM is a being of light. I’ve got my own, as you say, fan fic theory, but I’d love to hear your rambling thoughts on the true nature on darkness and light fan fic theory or not! Great vid btw!

Best thing to wrap up a work week: Obi Wan Kenobi talking about Kingdom Hearts
  • @dakvalor
Great theory! I've couple of things to add and consider along with this theory. First of all the Gazing eye only appears with people related to Xehanort, time and darkness. The Gazing eye could be Mom's way of tracking and observing how Darknesses act and thus leading to possible ways of trapping it to the Foretellers. And why Vanitas' keyblade has the Eyes and is has shape of a gear? Daybreak town Castle has a gear with seemingly clock like machine. Gears also just happens to been seen inside similiar worlds to Daybreak town like Twilight Town and Radiant Garden which both have gears in the middle. But why not Scala ad Caelum it instead has complicated looking clock. Never put this much time for comment so I hope it makes sense 😅
  • Something I've been wondering lately, are Keyblades sentient? I've been unwinding with KH1 lately, and the way Sora is told that the Keyblade chose him really sticks out. It's possible that it doesn't mean anything, but still. Also, I kind of think the creepy invisible guy hiding in the Traverse Town hotel is the MoM.
  • @kylvex7728
This video was amazing!! I loved your narrations and editing. But on the theory side of things I can't shake the feeling that The Master has something planned for Riku and Terra.
  • @yugi2boy2
A couple days ago I was wondering about how there are so many keyblades with (something that very much looks like) the Gazing Eye. Only one of them is given significant importance throughout the series, the one that MoM passed down to Luxu. Since I'm very lazy and didn't feel like sifting through the entire KH lore to find answers i left it for when the next games would come out and we might get answers. Now here I am... A complete video, discussing that exact plot point, by a creator I found out about a week ago. It's almost as if you've got a Gazing Eye of your own. 10/10 vid, would love to see you become a staple of KH youtube like damo!

So my thoughts on this is first and foremost, it's visually beautiful, you've done a very great job on that front Second, I think you're the only person I've seen suggest that the eyes belong to darkness themselves, and that makes sense. It'd also imply to me that he already has one of the willful darknesses within him, and that'd be how he was able to jot down what was being seen. (Assuming this is right) And it is very interesting that MoM's symbol is balance, more than light related. Might tie into the whole "Fallen Angel" Lucifer theme. ;) Great video!
  • @celestinenox
I know a lot of people are trying to say the MoM is some kind of future/past version of Sora, but if we're going the route of the MoM being a time-traveling or worldline-hopping version of a character we already know, Riku would make more sense. Both of them have imagery and storylines tying them to both darkness and light, creating a balance. Sora might have brushes with the darkness, but he's never been intended as a character who represents the balance of the two.
