New calibrated sculk sensor adds many 1.20 minecraft redstone changes. Using sculk sensor for memory circuits, vibration redstone wire, redstone encoding and decoder, hidden doors, secret traps, plus much more. Minecraft snapshot 23w12a added calibrated sculk sensor, vibration resonance, new vibration frequencies.

They should add honey pistons which behave like bedrock sticky pistons.
  • @zeekjones1
The extra, 'slightly-less-sticky' piston can be with honey.
  • @ViIvaNunner
the piston idea with quasi connectivity and the one tick thing is actually like; an insanely elegant solution to the parity issue between them; its kinda genius
  • @The-EJ-Factor
I really like your idea to make 2 different pistons to keep both parties happy. And also make tile entities move able in Java from a special pistons.
  • @tobysuren
I know a lot of people have already mentioned having a honey piston that does what bedrock's sticky pistons do and a slime piston that does what java's piston does, but for quasi connectivity you could add a "sensitive" prefix to pistons, droppers and dispensers (e.g. sensitive honey piston or sensitive dropper) that you would get from crafting the normal type of that block with some item (maybe a nether quartz piece since an observer uses that to detect block updates?). You could also craft, for example, a slime ball with a sensitive piston to get a sensitive slime piston. One thing that is REALLY important though is that all java sticky pistons currently in a world get replaced with sensitive slime pistons, all bedrock sticky pistons get replaced with honey pistons and all java droppers/dispensers get replaced with sensitive droppers/dispensers. If this isn't done then, either on bedrock or java, loads of redstone contraptions will break.

with the pistions, i could see cobblestone / deepslate pistions, with the deepslate being the quasi connectivivty one (my reasoning for this is that the version without quasi connectivity is "simpler" in behaviour, so it makes sense to me that it is earlier to get in the game)

Looks really handy, since as far as I know, only wool can stop the signal between them, while other blocks can't. This means if we can somehow include them in a fairly common decorative build (let's say lampposts) in a city build, we can send specific signals from one building to another without having to set up underground redstone lines, and worry about them interacting with each other, if we accidentally put them too close to one another. Even better, we can do so by sending a specific signal strength. Just imagine being able to have a building that only has a signal strength encoder in it, and it can function as the switch for all of your nicely decorated farms in a city build!

For mumbo's sound battery, he calibrated each skulk in the memory loop to prevent the interference from getting in the way. It was really cool to see how he tested the concept in his video!
  • @kaz49
I wish they'd make calibrated sculk sensors have a pulse of 1 redstone tick. Then they'd have a much shorter cooldown which would be very convenient
  • @Mutherite
You must have scored 100/100 in ur physics tests
  • @thomasfplm
By calibrating the sensors, Mumbo made a version of the memory circuit that would have the problem of being reprogrammed accidentally. And it would be interesting to have a Calibrated Shrieker, maybe using echo shards, that would emit sounds with vibrations determined by a redstone input.
  • @lowmax4431
It's kinda funny that crosstalk is a problem in video game fantasy electronics too.
  • The different piston types is definitely something I've thought about before. TBH, it's a great idea but I'm also not sure if Mojang would actually implement it
  • @kyleyoung2464
maybe a honey sticky piston as the other sticky piston type!
  • @SP4CEBAR
Here's how all redstone could be merged: 1. Two variants - clicking on wires to toggle connecting to pistons , droppers, and dispensers on (bedrock) and off (java) - treating sticky pistons with slime, honey, or shears will speed them up and allow zero-ticking (java), or not (bedrock) - powered redstone makes invisible charged redstone dust particles float down ( BUD ), pistons , droppers, and dispensers can be made sensitive to it after a player clicks on them with an item like quartz or copper - the redstone components will automatically be set to use the right variant depending on your platform 2. Superior features - item containers can be moved by pistons (like in bedrock) (this will make Java redstone veterans emotional) - the consistency of java should be kept because nobody likes bedrock redstone randomness - you can build slab "ladders" to carry your redstone signals upwards, in bedrock you can build them out of glass to make the signal be carried up and down , this is a feature I would really like to have on java, but it would also mean that any java build using glass to carry a signal up and relying on the signal not being able to move down (rare scenario) should use slabs instead - there are more differences between java and bedrock listed on the Minecraft wiki on the "Bedrock\_Edition\_exclusive\_features" page under the "blocks" chapter 3. range-effects - an alternative solution to enabling BUD powering for certain components: an electromagnet block (made out of copper and redstone) that allows BUD powering in a 100-block radius (needs to be powered by redstone to avoid builders from accidentally activating it in an area, the activating also allows BUD powering to be turned on or off systematically, but this may be a little too powerful, because it would allow a really effective easy wireless redstone method, to prevent or balance wireless redstone it could not allow any block updates, or it could take 30 seconds to activate, either way, I think copper really needs a technical use to postpone the merging of Redstone mechanics Mojang could add "redstone mechanics" as a server setting instead , which can be set to either java or bedrock.
  • Hope they don't patch your fish farm. It's honestly really creative and harder to build so I think it should stay.
  • Playing a note block should make a vibration based on its note
  • @willpawelko
I think it's really interesting that you could potentially make a system that listens to the actions of a player and know exactly what they're doing in a given location. You could make systems that respond to the player's behavior. I could see some type of boss fight being made with this.
