The Crucible is the culminating event in recruit training. Working toward this point since the beginning of their recruit training, the only way to finish is through leadership, teamwork, hard work, and dedication. The Crucible forces recruits to combine and employ everything they've learned over the past three months. Only after the completion of this event will they earn the title United States Marine.

I endured the crucible 18 years ago, and my body is STILL angry at me. Semper fi, brothers!

I tried so hard not to cry when they handed me my EGA, but it's so hard hahaha

I broke both my feet on the Reaper but I crawled up that damn mountain in the dark where no drill instructors saw me and stood in line to get my EGA.. I spent the next week with every drill instructor on the compound yelling at me to quit during graduation practice but I high stepped it the hell out of there and did the graduation ceremony broke feet and all.

As a recruit, standing before the reaper, tired and hungry, I could easily say that part was the worst for me. It reaped my feet :(

Ten years ago, I completed the Crucible. Today, my husband finished the Army's Forge. Reflecting today on all of it, on my journey in uniform and what I went through, on what I know he just went through. I remember the pride of that success and achievement, and feeling the EGA in my hand. It's hard for me to transition back into military life, especially this time as just a spouse, a dependent. But I'm keeping my head high, remembering what I achieved as a Marine.

Nowhere near as tough as being married to my ex wife.

My husband was a blue/green USN corpsman who loved his marines. God bless them all.

Good job to all of the men and women that bear that sacred emblem. I wish I had joined, but I wanted to "see the world." Lol. Maybe in another life. I was in Operation Iraqi Freedom though. They truly are the few and the proud. Salute.
  • You truly never forget who helped you in your time of need. I was injured during the crucible and couple hike as fast as everyone else and fell behind. Those brothers to the left and right of me made sure I wasn’t left behind and I think about that all the time.

I respect all you Marines out there for going through this. It was hell and a pure living nightmare for us moms!!! But boy is the prize at the end greater than anything in the world. 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
