Has there or has there not , ALWAYS been a less - convincing faction of individuals whom where known as " Plastics"?? , whenever it may be ., in many cultures?. "States" , Tickets " Nobodies" , They existed in the 60s , I saw them in the late Seventies , we had groups of kids just out of Punk , saw " A Film" , nowt to do , HP on the Scooter from Dad , crappy ( and Scruffy in my opinion) Parka, A few badges here and there , And off ya go....yous be a Mod.. I had that all around me as Soulie back then , I spent ages trying to convince my Mod Mates that it was Original RnB , Soul , Ska the Mods coveted , not Power Pop., Played them my 45's handed- down from elders ...still weren't having it . I REALLY should have been a Mod then , but I witnessed( mostly ) a lack of understanding for it , I had 3 mates maximum who I considered true to the meaning and knowledgeable in Clothes, Music , and how to conduct yourself with any conviction. Make no mistake , this , like Northern Soul , should be taken SERIOUSLY ...sounds miserable I know , but its not a bit of fun , I'm 60 now , I AM STILL looking for Records I haven't heard , Shirts with a Great - Fit , Shoes in Continental styles , no labels , Mixing and matching styles and colours , Just making sure I thought about It with care , if you do that , you will never need to call yourself a Mod , it will be self- explanatory. People say , You weren't there in 79' we where " etc , I truly believe If I where , I wouldn't be a follower now., I would be in NEXT or FRENCH CONNECTION buying shit threads and ageing myself by 10 years ....
