  • When Rex said "We'll meet again" I think he meant the worlds restarting. At the end of the base game, Noah and gang destroyed Z and so Origin had nothing stopping it from completing its goal as we can see in the end credits of base 3 because the original worlds were basically frozen in time and Aionios was basically a kind of limbo so when everything was fixed, everything went back to the way it was before, meaning Shulk and Rex would both be back living their normal lives like nothing that happened in Aionios never happened and every soldier there would go back to their old worlds as kids since their data were all put into Origin when they were kids. Basically, everything got reset when Noah fixed Origin so i dont think Shulk and Rex are gods or dead.
  • Regarding the no aging theory, I don't think that's necessarily true. While it's possible for Shulk, Rex, and others are left out of Aionios' cycle by some higher being, that doesn't mean they stopped aging. After all, Shulk looks VERY different compared to when we saw him in FR's first cutscene sporting much longer hair and more wrinkles. Rather, I think a better way of viewing it is that these characters simply age much, much slower. Just like how Aionios isn't literally frozen in time; just progresses gradually, thus causing the Annihilation Events which is the results of the two worlds still attempting to merge together.
  • When Origin rebooted the worlds, they both went back to the moment right before they collided where we see Noah as a kid. So if you think about it, this actually never happened since time rolled back to before it did. So maybe they did die in a sense to become Origin's avatar with A but they didn’t stay that way after Z died.

I'm pretty sure when the worlds form again Rex and Shulk will be given back their original forms like everyone else. With the worlds formed again there is no need for Origin and the trinity processor so Shulk and Rex are given back their original bodies and continue on with their lives. If we do get a Xenoblade 4 it will be based on what the previous saga built instead of treading up new ground, meaning if we do get returning characters they won't be MC's like Nia, Melia, Rex, Shulk or Alvis, it will be characters like Riku that while played a role weren't the focus of the story at any point as a nice little reference to past games but not overshadowing the current MC.

I don't f***ng know what's going on anymore... All I ever wanted was a remake of xenogears!
  • alvis/ontos might have removed the pneuma and malos from the processor of origin after z hijacked origin, alvis/ontos might have also pulled the strings for shulk and rex to be in aionios to stop mobeus but alas the superior programming alpha had to manifest and disrupt everything.

Great video! I've always wondered how Rex & Shulk ended up in Aionios and my theory is that Z awoken them and their close surroundings (Linka, Panacea, other people of Alrest & Bionis) as a failsafe to stop Alpha in that first cutscene. Z was probably trying to hack into Origin and that's what triggered Alpha's response actions in the first place. This is backed up by the fact that Rex & Shulk have barely aged and were probably not present in Aionios for too long to begin with. They were probably in their late 20s when Origin first activated/when they were revived back into Aionios. Mio is roughly 10 years old at the start of XC3, meaning the Origin activation probably took place around 12-ish years after the ending of 1&2 (this also conveniently lines up with the in game releases of XC1 in 2010 & XC3 in 2022). After that first battle, roughly 15 years pass based on in-game dialogue and the "truce" peace period between the Consuls and Cityfolk war, aging them to their mid 40s. It's hard to call Rex & Shulk immortal beings when Linka and Panacea exist too.

I believe the yellow lights mean that you’ve reached the end of your life, while the red ones mean it was taken, and the blue ones help send off those who had it taken. So they might’ve died, but since they chose to become the next trinity, I think they are alive only through memories in origin

My brain is going haywire over so much xenoblade lore

Just Monolithsoft letting us know their plans, tis all
  • @MrBergste
Didn't the Agnian and Kevesi people who reached their Homecoming also have golden nodes though? I simply saw it as meaning that Rex's and Shulk's souls or consciences (or whatever you want to call them) were returning to Origin without having to return to the cycle of the Endless Now.
  • @andrespires
Plot twist: Shulk is the missing child of Rex and Mythra
  • @Fusorf
Origin failed to reboot because of the fear of the souls saved in it believed that the system would not work thus froze the time, creating moebius. Origin working just rebuilds Alrest and bionis drifting away. The worlds reuniting is a totally different event that could have taken place long after 3’s ending as you see both earth reappraring in the presumably original universe (presence of Jupiter implying we are in the solar system again)

That or they'll be telling A dad jokes for eternity lol.

I think the Trinity processor will play role in future games. It like only constant in xenoblades games.
  • I think, Rex and Shulk are going with A to fill the empty void of the Trinity Processor and they were departing to Origin to kick start Origin to work again, and the events of Xenoblade 3 had to happen so that Z was defeated and Origin could do it's thing and allow the worlds to merge. I think what they did to Nikol and Glimmer was give them their remaining life force from their normal human life as they themselves were gonna become Aegises so that Nikol and Glimmer were free from the cycle of the Endless now
  • @22mrcaj
I still think the kids were born before origin was even made, and they simply allow them to be assimilated into origin upon creation

I know I'm late but I think that the light motes thing is incorrect. When someone in the cycle dies in combat, their light motes are red until an Off-Seer plays their song, then they turn blue. When a soldier dies in a homecoming, their motes are yellow. When someone outside the cycle dies their motes are yellow, it doesn't matter if they died of old age or in battle. About Vandhamm's motes turning blue: I always thought that the blue motes came from Mwamba and the other agnian guy (i forgor his name💀) All of that comes from memory, I haven't played the game in months, but I played it like 5 times so I'm pretty sure about what I'm saying.
  • @kyurei4478
Regarding the lights, it seemed pretty clear to me that the lights from people outside the cycle are always yellow when they die, cause they die naturally, just like people in the cycle when they reach their homecoming/a natural death. If an agnian kills a kevesian, his lights become red and this person returns in the cycle. The blue lights correspond to the effect produced on it by the off-seers playing their melody, hence why Vandham's yellow lights become blue. But I don't think yellow lights turn blue for any other person outside the cycle. What factually happens when off-seers play their melody is that it desintegrates people's husk. Symbolically speaking it's certainly a way to evoke the fact that people's soul finally leaves this world in peace cause what's left from their body disappears to restore a sense of dignity in their death despite their life energy already left them before that. There also seems to be a white light that appears few times but majorly for the previous incarnations of Noah and Mio when they die but I think it might just be a different lightning or something like that cause it's never explained. Those deaths just seem to be natural deaths so they should be yellow. Now I know the theory most people believe in regarding why Rex and Shulk don't age is because Origin frozed them in time but personally I don't buy it because it's pretty incoherent. Origin has an influence over the world to stop its flow because all the world's datas are stored into it in the first place. The exact reason why people from the City aren't affected by Origin on the contrary, because they're not registered. I already had doubts about it since the announcement of the DLC cause if Shulk and Rex were registered into Origin, Z could do absolutely anything with them, even put a flame clock on them potentially. And what Linka said pretty much conforts my doubts cause she says they haven't been assimilated by Origin contrary to others so they're not under the influence of Origin. Aionios is just the reunion of Bionis, what's left from Mechonis and Alrest so people from the City are in the exact same situation as Rex and Shulk, they aren't registered and yet, they age normally unlike them. Thus, that's not a very good reason for Shulk and Rex to stay frozen in time.
