The issue of the 4-cylinders is not power. 4Runner's people do not care about power. They care if that engine can arrive to 300K miles without major interventions.

You know something was embargoed when Doug breaks his upload schedule

I just bought a 2024 4Runner and glad I did. I don't care about new bells and whistles, I care about reliability and for the past several years that's what 4Runner brings and more. After reading what's going on with the new Tundras and possibly soon the new Tacomas I rather not take a chance. I bought a Limited model and I'm so very happy, it looks and feels awesome!

I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner which I purchased brand new. I love the car and it has treated me very well. After watching this video and seeing the changes to the engine, I am going to keep mine another ten years.
  • The black fender flares make it look like it has enormous empty wheel wells.

Oh how I've missed outdoor reviews! I can see the car so much better and the sound doesn't suck!

Can't wait to see the $70k+ price tag. Soccer moms and bro beards will love the offroad suspension in the grocery store parking lots. They'll look lovely parked in the nail salon parking lot next to the wilderness subarus. Overlanding to the microbrewer is life!

I appreciate how thorough you are with all the little details. It's actually kind of rare to find a car review that includes all of that but I always wish people would.

2014 4Runner owner here. As of today, I have 326k miles on it and never had a single issue with it, other than the door lock actuators and the air blower. Changed the suspension and the ball bearings once after 250k, so it’s nice and lifted. Bulletproof doesn’t even start to describe this truck.

"I'm gonna take you on the most thorough tour yet of the new 4Runner" Doug posted this ONE MINUTE after it was unveiled. It's the ONLY tour of the new 4Runner

That engine bay is ridiculously complicated. I've never seen so many cables and hoses in any other engine bay.

Thank you Doug for making this video. You posted it on the morning of my birthday. I love the 4runner!
  • I have a 2007 with 265k miles on it. No real issues, just the usual stuff you have to replace. Love it, I want to take it 400k

Doug, I sometimes am critical of your videos. But…when you do your honest and in depth reviews I always react the same way, he does the best all around reviews. So thanks for being true to your strengths. And I’m with you, those camouflage seats should be options, they may be a deal breaker for some…

Some say I'm obsessed with 4Runners. I then smile and nod thinking of this.
  • @SuperDamien27
I’ve been watching your reviews for years and I work for ASICS USA and it really cool to see you wearing them! Keep up the good work Doug!
  • @rump438
aint no damn way you'll be able to find these under 70k. The markup on these is gonna be nuts, 4runners already hold their value real well and I would imagine people are gonna be pretty excited by this redesign.
  • Love your videos bro! You do a job I’d love to find! Was most interested in this for the price and 3rd row option. This and Tacoma keep some of the best resale values over time than most other brands and even other Toyota models. Money always well spent!

He is the American version of TIFF needle! the shoulder shrugging, eye squinting, vocal experssions, increadible enthusiasm! He is an amazing content producer!!!!
