I’m here at 2:15pm and this song just hit me during the hardest times. My father just passed away due to the coronavirus. As he was fighting for his life for 2 weeks straight and a bunch of prayers. He passed away without having to say one last word to his kids. This song hits because you can’t always get what you want in life, but if you try and keep moving forward you can find light at the end of the tunnel..

"The philosopher Jagger once said, you can't always get what you want" Dang! That show is over like 9 years ago and I still can hear House saying that line everytime i listen to this song.

Never able to hear this song without thinking of House MD anymore… great song.

Using the choir was a stroke of genius. And then the segue to the acoustic guitar and Mick's vocals is perfection. Totally a 'Stones thing to do.

My dad would always sing me this song back in the 90s whenever I would ask for something but we were very poor which used to make me hate this song. But now that he’s gone I will forever love this song as a way to remember him

Rest in Peace my dear Super Uncle, your song..... My Youth Hero and my rockstar and his long blond hair charming everyone that ever set eyes on him with his friendly ways and laughter. Took me to his bar as a 5 year old and he bought me a bottle of soda as I was watching the old generation playing cards drinking beer. The last couple of years when my Aunt died we would meet more often at the Bar, getting drunk and making memories. And now, as unfair as Life is, he is gone, died in his sleep.. Our family lost one of it's pearls Today.. The Stones lost one of it's biggest fans Today.

This was the first song that played on the radio when I bought my first car. I will never forget it

A thousand years from now, we will be flying through space, and someone somewhere out there in the cosmos will be playing this song.

My wife and I put our 2 1/2 year old twin girls down for a nap a few months ago. One refused to sleep, so I brought her downstairs. She loves music, so I asked our music device to play classic rock. My daughter started playing in a little tent castle my wife set up for her in our living room. We have been taking her to a speech therapist for some months because she has been having difficulty verbalizing like our other twin daughter. So there I was, sitting on the couch thinking, and worrying, and worrying about my daughter - and wishing she would verbalize more. At that moment, the Rolling Stones song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” started playing. My daughter poked her head out of the tent, and she just looked at me … and she smiled. And I realize, she is just perfect the way she is, and she will learn to speak more in her own time. I am so lucky to have my children. “You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need, ah yeah.” So true. Count your blessings.

Growing up in the 1970's, my Father always said he wanted this song played at his funeral. When he saw the film: THE BIG CHILL in 1983, he cried. The film opens at a Funeral-- set to this ROLLING STONES' CLASSIC SONG. This song is iconic.

I always hear something new in this song and I've heard it a hundred times. That's what is called timeless. Ladies and Gentlemen...The Rolling Stones.

This song has been played so many times for so many reasons all so valid...I'll simply say...it's about life. Take it easy. Enjoy the ride.

My childhood friend, Karen L. Anderson passed away on April 23, 2023. This song resonates with me because we both struggled with getting what we wanted, and I don't think it's possible on this earth. You don't usually hear this song with the full orchestration and choir. It's a gem of a rock tune and Jagger/the Stones at their very best.
