Tommy Shaw is such a natural musician. And he projects such joy when he plays. One of the all time greats, in my opinion.
  • Talk about magical… Tommy is absolute MAGIC! Between Styx, Damn Yankees, the many collaborations and the recent appearance on Live from Daryl’s House! The style and feeling he brings is infectious and complete MAGIC!
  • After listening to a couple of tracks from the Wes Montgomery album called out here, I can now hear where Tommy got the inspiration for the guitar tones on sections of the excellent Styx song "Castle Walls". Really beautiful textures displayed here.
  • Love that Alan Parson's Album. Love that pick of yours!! You ROCK!!! Epic Legend

If memory serves Allan Parson was the engineer on Dark Side Of The Moon.
  • I met Tommy at his musical debut at the Opry Store at the Grand ole Opry, from his album, " The Great Divide" a must listen - BLUEGRASS!! such a humble man, his talent as a musician and songwriter is as strong as any other of our generation. Shine on Tommy Shaw, the musical world would not be the same without you.

Interesting to hear his top five. Met this guy soooo many yrs ago. He had just left Styx, he was with his new band , Richie Cannata et al . A meet greet event at guitar store where I worked. Dead of winter & he was clearly tired from bussing around the north. But very kind and humble. Seems to be the same down to earth guy now, as he was then.
  • Wow. I’ve been a fan of Tommy literally as far back as I can remember. Paradise Theatre is my earliest musical memory, I was about 4 when I heard it, and loved his voice from day 1. And yet, he still manages to surprise me. Dark Side, and the Beatles, ok, sure… no surprise there. But Alan Parsons? And Tommy playing jazz? So cool, and actually makes sense when I hear him say it. He’s always had such an exquisite sense of melody.
  • Thanks Tommy. STYX was my very first concert at Cattle Congress in Waterloo, IA on the Grand Illusion tour. I was 10. You guys will have always a special place in my heart.

For me, The Grand Illusion was just the pinnacle of Styx. It was an absolute masterpiece and one of the best albums for the decade when it was released. Not sure if it could break into my top 5, but it's pretty high up there.
  • Tommy is brilliant and so talented… I’d love to be stranded on a desert island with him 😂 to talk and listen to his albums of course 😊

Tommy you have millions of fans that love you and your writing of Styx songs. ❤️
  • Meet the Beatles was the first album I had saved up my allowance to buy as a young kid. This is the album that changed the world. All others pale in importance.
