This is the very first vlog that Dan from ‪@escapetoruralfrance‬ ever appeared in! The legend started here...

As lockdown starts to end in France, Mummy and I look back at all of the changes that have happened since it began. As our bed and breakfast income ended due to the virus, I immersed myself in vlogging, producing many more videos per week. Today I share some of my YouTube analytics, and talk about the extraordinary growth of this channel, and of my Patreon account, over the last six weeks. Mummy and I share the impact that this change has had on our lives here, and talk about what it means for the future of the chateau!

Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
I'm the chatelaine of the 16th century Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️In 'Sundays at the Chateau', I answer all your questions about life at the chateau. There's lots of history, interior decoration, cooking and diy!

A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. As you can imagine, your help means more to me now than ever. Because of you, I’ll be able to keep living at Lalande and making videos even though our chambres d’hotes income has been decimated by the coronavirus. I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity, On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will continue to survive and flourish because of you, thank you!!! You do underestimate how interesting you all are. So many diverse personalities, even the elusive Nick, make the spectacular LaLande ever more fascinating.
  • No, it’s not just the chateau it’s you. You are charming, hopeful, humble and grateful. It is really very refreshing. Thank you for sharing your dreams and your life with us. 💖💕🙏
  • In my humble opinion your show is loved is because: you live in peace, you work very hard, you are very do it yourself in creative and “with what you have” way, your family love each other and delight in each other, everyone helps and gives to the whole, you live in a beautiful house, beautiful landscape..........Who wouldn’t want that! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Selfishly, i am grateful Mummy got stranded at the Chateau. She is such a delight. Hopefully she and Percy will be together soon - at the Chateau!!

It is YOU. It's every one of you. The characters are like a golden cast in a sitcom. I compare it to the Golden Girls or The Nanny, where every person was just perfect. I love all of you, Isabelle, Percy, Marie, the elusive Nic, Antoine, Selmar, Scotman, the two Michaels...and every one I missed. It's a kind of fairytale life and community I guess so many of us wish to be part of! But yes, I love the building, too. But only watching the chateau itself without you? Well... that won't hold the spirit I love so much! ♡
  • Château Diaries has become my addiction. You give us history, art, design, architecture, restoration but above all the pleasure of sharing your enthusiasm of realising your “dreams”. You have a generosity of spirit and great love for what you do. How could we not love you, your family and friends. It is an absolute joy to see the progress made. Keep doing what your doing; good thing happen to good people. Cx

Your Mom is the bomb.com😂when she clapped her hands at the sky I died laughing OUT LOUD
  • It's not only the Chateau life. It's your personality, knowledge, the way you talk and laugh 😁

I'm one of those people that got here because the algorithm told me to see "doing it ourselves". I am so glad I discovered your channel afterwards. I smile every time I see a new episode of the chateau diary poping up in my subscriptions. This i so much better to watch than any reality tv series on television because it is real life and everybody is very nice and so friendly. Or at least they look like it ;) I hope I can visit the chateau one day. it looks like a marvelous place. Wishing you all the best.

Mummy asks why we are interested in your lives? Because of the History (In Australia we have nothing like the chateau), the food, the gardens, the buildings, the people and the characters, the joy, and most of all the laughs from Mummy

That’s how I found your channel. YouTube recommended Micheal’s channel, whom recommended your channel, and the rest is history.
  • @SurrealSaDiabel
I love Michael’s vlogs soooo much but for some reason La Lande just sings to my heart!
  • I discovered you before the lockdown but it is wonderful to be able to share your life. You have brought much happiness to me at 84 and my husband of 91. Love from Canada
  • @arowe4745
Stephanie, I have forced myself to sit through an awful lot of terrible advertisements just for you and to support your chateau. 😂
  • @lala-ct9ir
You are producing much better content than any so-called influencers with their boring fashion and cosmetics hauls. It is so nice to watch a true entrepreneur working on a worthwhile project.

When mummy said there’s just as interesting lives around the world, there are of course! But the personality and the people at Lalande are so entertaining! I’m the USA there’s farm life, in England there’s the people who own castles and big country houses, and there’s even a handful of chateau channels, but the community of lalande makes you feel as if everyone there is your friends!
  • @zpoppy1
The vlog has changed my life too, it would be a sadder world without them xx
  • @mimibatman2787
You have brought happiness back to me, too. I discovered your channel after our world had shut down. I never realized how much of my happiness was wrapped up in my work, and I was in a very dark place. I stumbled upon your video of getting back to France before the border closed, and as I binge watched the chateau diaries my depression began to lift. Your bubbly spirit and Joy is infectious! Thank you so much for bringing light back into my world. It may sound like hyperbole, but it's not. ❤️

I get to watch you from the United States with my 7 year old granddaughter who loves you as much as I do. We watch because you’re funny, happy, creative, fun, a family loving one another well and your life is so inspiring-cooking, remodeling, floral arrangements, meals, laughing with and at each other, dancing, music—BEAUTY. And so I tea with her, make floral arrangements, we laugh and talk and dance and sing...Thank you! You all remind us that we don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to enjoy “it.”
