Thank you to our patron Scott for returning us to The Experience... I just had to add another track on because "Crosstown Traffic" was so short. But, what polar opposites these songs are! Both gorgeous in their own way... but proves Jimi is a pure poet whose lyrics are just plain enough to hear but deep enough to understand. He was absolutely one of a kind and I am so glad I was introduced to him and Mitch. Thank y'all. I needed these guys right now. Life is so rough behind the scenes and I am scared that the life I finally reclaimed is gonna be snatched away from me by some blind, inept and cold bureaucratic system. I hope it doesn't. But, who knows. Let's hop into this traffic jam and see how long it takes to get the green light.

Now listen to my favorite song on this album--and Jimi's dad's favorite: Red House.
  • I'm glad you mentioned Jimi's vocals and poetry. I think his genius as a guitar player overshadowed a lot of his other gifts as a musician.

The lyrics are so stunning in "Wind Cries Mary." People are so taken by the guitar that they may not pay attention to the images he's creating. "A tiny island sags down the stream."

Crosstown Traffic was one of my all-time favorite Jimi Hendrix songs, if not my very favorite. I was probably 14 yrs old when I heard it on the radio. It checked every box as a pop single, but possessed that thrilling amount of Jimi Hendrix energy. Even the lyrics were rather humorous. No one ever reacts to it and I don't know why. Thanks for being one of those who has...

"Crosstown Trafic" was recorded at the Record Plant in 1968, and, as Jimi Hendrix explained, "I was playing piano on it." In addition, as legend tells it, he also played a homemade kazoo made from paper and a comb on the track.

THANK YOU for mentioning how great Jimi's voice is.

Only Jimi can make a kazoo a sound cool af. The Wind Cries Mary is an absolutely beautiful song. Good catch on the traffic lights, red, green and blue

Thanks for the reaction!! If there’s a thunderstorm where you are, I would recommend listening to Electric Ladyland….songs Rainy Day, Dream Away all the way through Still Raining, Still Dreaming (a four song masterpiece that should be listened all the way through.)

The Wind Cries Mary is such a great song. So seemingly simple but his playing is still so complex. Great melody and singing and the band was hitting all perfectly.

"...Woman and child, man and wife: the best love to have, is the Love of life! Keep on pushing, straight ahead!..." - Jimi Hendrix - straight ahead. You got this bro, keep on pushing. ❤
