This is such an incredible resource for me as a brand new clinician with no time to spend looking into recent research. Thank you for your time, work, and effort!!

Good morning Dr. ❤ your channel. So glad i found you. You helped my like no body else regarding my teens ADHD.There is no way to thank u enough. Neurologist KSA
  • I was astonished they didn’t test gluten free, for example paleo and also keto.
  • Having anxiety and adhd is horrendous. Vyvanse helps with anxiety but all it takes is a coffee, a bit of alcohol, a bad night of sleep... to exacerbate anxiety 100 fold. 😢 I m finding it difficult to deal with friendships too. Not wanting to drink or going out is upsetting people, not matter how many times I explained my reasons to try to be quiet.

I would think any diet that helps physical conditions would help because it removes concerns/stressors and lessen exacerbation of ADHD traits. I’ve done an elimination diet created by my allergist. It also involved rotation of foods in “type” groups. It’s stressful and requires a lot of planning. lol.
  • Dear Prof. Barkley, Thank you very much for your great videos and all information provided to parents like me. It is already very valuable. My question is, where can I find more resources for helping my gifted kid who has ADHD?

It is interesting you mentioned a study relating to the costs of having ADHD. I was listening to the fantastic podcast Access all on bbc sounds that discusses issues relating to disability and mental health. In the latest episode they are discussing disability & the impact it has on people who want to migrate to Australia. It seems that if you or anyone in your family has a condition such as Autism or Downs Syndrome then you will not get a visa as the Australian government see the healthcare needs as too great & far too expensive for them and it will impact on them far greater in society & economy compared to an average Australian! 😮 This is even if you are applying for roles in services that they have great need for over there. I found that shocking!! Regarding the studies of the diet - there is definitely a link between brain health and diet. Gut health has been shown to play a significant role. I'm trying to eat more protein and have a Mediterranean diet.

Hello Mr. Barkley, I recently discovered your YouTube channel, and along with Dr. K, you both have saved my life. I greatly admire your work and wanted to make a question. My psychiatrist mentioned that I most likely have ADHD and has scheduled some tests for me. I'll see him next month. He prescribed me Wellbutrin XL (Bupropion. I'm on day 8 btw), and I wanted to ask if you could discuss this ADHD off-label medication in one of your videos. I tried watching your medication series but couldn't find information about my pills. We know it's an antidepressant but it works very different than SSRIs. It's used off-label for ADHD. Thank you!

I don't understand from this small paragraph they have published, did the studies they looked at take into account what the ASM was used for?? Considering valproate is also prescribed for bipolar disorder which can be comorbid w/ adhd or adhd is misdiagnosed as (I think ASD too but idk abt commorbidity) it should have been taken into account, right?

Looking at the paper:It seems like the healthy diet can work as well as medication treatment for certain cases
  • @mrmaxin53
the taiwan paper is interesting as the database is huge. I hope this doesn't get used as misinformation for treating children with antibiotics.

Chronic allergies can also cause inflammation in the brain. So somthing like allergy immunotherapy would help for ADHD. There is actually a link between asthma and ADHD. And we know asthma is caused by allergies much of the time. So yes an elimination diet might not be as effective as medication, but it definitely would help to administer that and allergy immuno therapy along with medication. Yes allergies aren’t the full answer, especially for everyone with adhd. But it seems chronic allergies exasperate cognitive issues, so it might be atleast part of the answer for a portion of people with adhd.
