On today’s episode, we are joined by a two time Premier League winner with over 50 caps for England.

Paul Ince’s 20 year career took him from his local club West Ham, to Italy, Old Trafford and Anfield as he became one of the few players to represent both side’s in the Premier League’s fiercest rivalry…

Paul went on to become a manager, learning his trade at Macclesfield Town and MK Dons before a short stint in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers. In 2022 he joined Reading FC but after a tumultuous spell that featured point deductions, an absent owner and a transfer embargo he left the club last year.

’The Guv’nor’ joins the show to discuss his challenging upbringing, his bust ups with Sir Alex Ferguson and his difficult time at Reading, whilst also giving his thoughts on the future prospects of his former clubs.

  • Paul Ince has gone up in my estimation after this interview, very honest, genuine and good attitude, I wish him the best.

A great podcast. Ince is often forgotten when people talk about great midfielders. Keane, Scholes, Robson ....all get regular mentions...but Paul was up there with them. Always thought he was a bit arrogant, but this shows him as a very decent guy and a family man. Total respect.
  • @Blitzk3r
He comes across as such a down-to-earth, normal bloke with fantastic commitment to his family, and he was a pretty gifted footballer to boot.
  • @dontbewoke
For this man to come from where he came from and end up playing more than 50 times for England (should definitely have got more) and becoming a stalwart for the biggest club in England is truly a rags to riches story ; what an absolute legend. Mind blowing that he's not written an autobiography because if anyones would be compelling , it would be his.

One of the best Simon has done so far. Fair play to Paul Ince too, he has gone up in a lot of peoples's estimations after that interview. Top bloke
  • @LordSeth-hf8ew
I actually really liked how much he gave props to his wife, lotta love there
  • @justingreen1973
What a fantastic bloke. I got shivers when he related his pride at being England captain and not making anything of the fact he was the first black guy to do so. So refreshing to hear and much needed.
  • @dontbewoke
I'm 46 and have seen many footballers play in midfield for England ; I'd rate Ince in the top 5 , could score goals , create , defend , motivate team mates , absolutely brilliant player.
  • @teeleef
Very humbling....class player and a class gentleman
  • @johnmatrix1232
one of the best football interviews I've seen. I feel guilty for booing Ince back in the day, the man has integrity, honour and above all else is a proper family man.

Loved Paul Ince as a player. Always gave 100%. Could tackle, could pass, could score, had more skill than credited. Big player during Euro 96' under Venables
  • @markdfly
I'm 55 and was there when he came through at West Ham. Not knowing the full story behind his move to Man utd has always tainted him with me and most West ham fans . Paul is from the same streets as me and everything he said about growing up and the values he has in life with family and standing up for yourself truly resonates with me. Top player, top man great podcast well done Guv ⚒👍
  • I never comment on any video but this was an absolute belter and I watched it twice. What a story and what a man!
  • @Tommy-123

  • Legend, you can tell listening to people when they’re not being authetnic, you never get that feeling with the Gov. Just a normal bloke with extraordinary mentality and talent.

  • @Stubbz83
Love Paul ince as a Man Utd fan I was gutted when he got sold, watching him play was a big part of my childhood and why I started supporting Man Utd….great football player
  • @finix683
You get a great feeling about a person then you hear him reveal fragments about himself, then it all falls into place about his innate strength, loyalty and talents. Inspiring!
