  • What's the best non fiction book you've read this year? PS. I'm still working on the lighting in this room lol
  • @lindsayejoy
i love how emily is so unapologetically bold and honest and doesn't give af about possibly turning off parts of her audience by reviewing "controversial" (AKA important) books that shine a light on topics that are often ignored and rarely spoken about. this is why i love this channel so much. ❀❀❀

Not enough videos like this on Booktube. I'm glad you frequently highlight nonfiction books as I feel like they are seen as boring, dry, and textbook like by most people when that's so not the case
  • @hycinnamon
Love seeing Emily hyped and calling out authors! :)
  • @AndreaMGC
I 100% agree. Non-fiction is by far the best genre to listen to on audiobook! It is my preferred genre when picking audiobooks. I'm currently reading Empire of Pain and it's actually so well done. It's not just the story about the story of the drug crisis but a deep dive into the family as well. It's intriguing! I'm about 6 hours in right now. The author narrates it and he does a good job. Thanks for showing the Ace book!! I am Ace and always eager to see people reading on the topic. Great video :)

I really love how much non-fiction you read this year and talked about! I read Know My Name which I loved and I am currently reading Story of China, because I love nonfiction about history

Emily giving the people what we want as usual - more of these videos on non fiction please! I read radium girls by your recommendation and that one was so good. Empire of Pain is both fascinating - like I couldn't put it down its very interesting but terrifying at the same time. I need to do more non fiction for next year I have slacked in that category. I have read 8. I have so many I want to get too but the old conundrum of so little time so many books!
  • @georgia_mccx
I really like the idea of trying a monthly 'topic introduction' nonfiction. I think it's going to be my 2023 reading goal 😊
  • omg. Yes, been waiting for this video since you first mentioned doing it. Since I've finished school I've been meaning to start picking up non-fcition but get overwhelmed with where to start. So thanks for the recs/run down of what you read, I've now add a bunch to my list. Hope you do this video again next year!
  • Thank you much Emily. I felt so empowered by your fighting spirit against misogyny and the way as women we are treated when it comes to health. I had my share with hormonal issues and it made me furious. I am sorry to hear about the health issues you have experiencing. I am sure you can win this fight!

  • This was fabulous! Took so many new recommendations away! My goal this year was to read 10 non-fictions and I absolutely smashed it. My fave one was One Last Dance by Emma Jane Holmes
  • @hlas_hlas
Your takes on these books are amazing! Thank you for speaking your mind!
  • @elenaortiz248
Fantastic video!!! Thank you for all the recommendations!! 🀩
  • Love the background! And adding lots of interesting books to my TBR

i remember discovering your channel through your fantasy genre videos and then realizing how many other genres you tend to have videos on with very interesting, bold takes. i remember subscribing years ago because outside of fantasy, a genre we shared interest in, i loved the way you could make me interested in a bunch of other genres too, even the ones i personally found most intimidating (sci-fi and nonfiction being top2). gotta tell you that i never regretted my choice to sub to you because throughout the years i've found myself enjoying all your content, watching them even when you cover stuff i usually wouldn't go for as a reading choice. i just sat here for over 38 minutes completely immersed in you talking about nonfiction books and you made me want to read so many of them, and even the ones i wouldn't read i still enjoyed your commentary on so so much. i just wanted you to know that this video was super interesting and your channel is one of the ones i recommend the most to all my friends. keep up the awesome work!
  • @kathybryar06
Glad to see your rec of What Doesn’t Kill You. I’ve just started seeking out books by authors with Crohn’s or that have characters who have Crohn’s. As someone who has had it forever I’d never really though about looking for books like that until it reared it’s ugly head again this year for me. Also added some more of your recs in this video to my TBR since I rarely read nonfiction and I’m going to try to start reading more next year. Great video and thank you!!
  • Thank-you so very very much for this great review of books that sounds incredible! Definitely some new books for the tbr❀️
  • @ladoctoralola
You are by far my favorite youtuber ever. Your videos make my days! I love your opinions!
