About Danheim
A dark Nordic folk project from Danish multi-instrumentalist and producer Mike Schæfer Olsen, Danheim's icy blend of Viking mythology and ambient Scandinavian folk music evokes sonic heathenry. Inspired by runic legends and Danish folklore, Olsen began to explore his heritage via song in the early 2000s. He began releasing music under the Danheim moniker in 2017, beginning with the full-lengths Munarvagr and Mannavegr. In 2018, he launched his own independent label, Fimbul Records, with the intention of issuing future material from other artists in the Nordic folk genre. Herja and Fridr were released that year, with Runagaldr and Hringras arriving in early 2019.

Imagine a man who has dedicated his sole life on making Viking ambient musics. Danheim, you are fucking awesome.

Shaman: I'm sorry, but you have one hour left to live. Me: Play "Dark & Powerful Viking Music" by Danheim. Shaman: But that's longer than one hour... Odin: I'll allow it.

I only just realized that this is entirely made by one person. Dude I am seriously impressed with both your work and your persistence. This music is honestly so unique and amazing to listen to and is a highlight in each and everyone of my days. thank you for sharing man seriously.
  • I’m a high anxiety sometimes find it hard to leave the house I can’t go into any shops etc ....today I had to go for a check up at the hospital by myself was scary but I put my headphones on and played this loud I was sooooo calm and felt no fear listening to this awesome music thank you Danheim

When I was a young kid I was told a story about how our viking ancestors had discovered a far away land to the west, and they were all celebrating and having a huge feast because they truly believed there were finally monsters and giants there for them to slay. That's some of the most metal shit I've heard still to this day.

i mostly code with this music, might raid a coast village later though idk
  • Danheim’s music is pure amazing, this music makes me feel feelings that i dont normally feel in my everyday life. As a scandinavian it feels like my genes of my ancestors are coming to life within me and it feels amazing! Skål from Sweden!

As for Mongolian it's very similar not just in the way it resembles throat singing, but it the way it pierces your soul! My greetings to Scandinavian brothers💪🏽 Even for Genghis Khaan it would be honour to face such severe enemies

This is currently my soundtrack to sitting in my backyard watching an amazing thunderstorm and having a strong drink. Thank you for this!

I'm writing a historical fantasy book for preteens which features a young shieldmaiden, and I always listen to Danheim whenever I'm writing her chapters, to really get me into the viking-mood. Thank you for the wonderful music!
  • Whenever I feel low on energy, I listen to Danheim. It always excites me, makes me want to go out and do something, move my body, be active and feel alive. It's great music and I'm deeply grateful for it.

Crazy how listening to this music my assignment suddenly seems to write itself. I have major problems with coming to an ease with my inner self when I need to start writing essays and longer texts. I somehow feel like this music is fighting the disarray in my head.

I don't get why people dislike the video, if you just don't like the music why are you even here in the first place?
